Monday:

I did 6 Yasso 800's. I used my Ironman watch to keep track of my splits and I messed up and only got two of the spilt times (I had my garmin on my other wrist so I have the overall mileage). It was raining and windy outside so I almost went to the gym, but I hate treadmills, especially trying to do speed work. The rain was coming down hard that between split 4 and 5 I only took one lap to get ready for the next 800 repeat. I was completely soaked when I was done, and very cold.

Split 1: 2:59 ( I took it easy, because I wanted to see if the wet track was going to cause a problem so I took a sign of caution.

Split 2: 2:34 (I just wanted to get these done because of the rain).

All the rest of the splits were lost.
Totals: 8  miles in 6:34 pace in 52:57

Here's my plans for the rest of the week. If you want to comment feel free. I would be interested on what others are doing.

Tuesday: easy run (6 miles. This will be hard because I'm not used to running less than 10 miles on any run.)

Wedneday: 4 mile Tempo Run (Total 6 miles one warm-up and one cool-down)

Thursday: Marathon pace run (6 miles)

Friday : 12 mile easy long run.

Saturday: easy run ( 6 miles)

I think you are looking good and your plan looks pretty good. You may want to through some strides in this week as well to work on sharpening the legs and leg turnover. On your tempo run don't be afraid to go at a decent clip this week. As you cut the mileage back you will be tempted to run your easy runs faster. Try to make sure you keep the easy runs easy and save the extra energy for the workouts. If you feel good on some of your easy runs then finishing the last mile at marathon pace (6:10-20) is ok as well. This week shoulod be your sharpening week. Cutting back mileage a little and keeping the intensity up is a good plan. No need to cut both back until the week of the marathon. Durng the week of the marathon I like to do 2-3 mile repeats at 10k-1/2 Marathon pace early in the week and then a few strides a couple of days out.

You have dne the training all that is left is to relax and enjoy the experience of running Boston. The time will come all by itself. Once you start just find a group that is running about the pace you want and enjoy!

What would be a good day to throw in some strides and how many according to my schedule? I had a good tempo run today averaging around 5:48 for 4 miles. My legs have felt really fresh this week.

I appreciate all your help your advice and Sasha's has helped my running. I wanted Boston to be the best run for me. I'm hoping to do the Ogden Marathon after Boston.

For this week it looks like Saturday would be a good day to do some strides. Something like 8-10x100m strides. When I say strides these should be gradual accelerations for the 100m. You should feel relaxed and focus on good form. These are not meant to be all out. You should accelerate gradually from about 5K speed to no faster than 1 mile speed by the end of the stride. Then just jog about 200m between each. Do these towards the end of your easy run.
