Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

AM: 4 easy miles on our trails on a cool morning. After seeing and being forced to kill a large timber rattler yesterday to protect my parents' puppy and baby goats, I was extra vigilant and avoided daydreaming. Karma not on my side now...

PM: 4 miles in just under 27 mins on JTR track. That NEARLY qualifies as a tempo run, and it was in a steady rain! Seriously, though, I'm been doing too much fast and slow with nothing in the sweet spot. Will address that this summer.

Total:  8 Miles.

Yikes! My in-laws in AZ recently had a rattler in the draw behind their place digesting a rabbit.

Hope you are doing well otherwise and surviving the weather recently.

My son will be moving to Nashville later this summer. We may drive through Arkansas depending on our route. If we end up going that way I will reach out to see if we are close to you.

Sounds excellent...would love to take y’all to dinner or put you up for the night if it works out. My brother is a philosophy professor at University of Alabama, so know you have friends nearby all over the Deep South!
