Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

8.5 Miles at 7:06/mile, a little below Marathon Pace, but comfortable given the 39 degree temperature; legs a little heavy for last couple of miles due, generally, to overall increased mileage for the week (I hit 40!); no gel.

Wesley, How long has it been since you raced any distance?

The reason I ask is because those mile repeat times you ran last Sunday are pretty impressive - especially with such a short recovery. You should be able to run a lot faster than the half marathon and marathon pr's you have listed.

Anyway, welcome to the blog and good luck in reaching your goals.

I ran the Little Rock Marathon in March on a whim...to break 4 hours, which I had narrowly missed when running my first Marathon (also Little Rock) back in 2005. Frankly, I had been running the occasional 5K and did the bare minimum long-run once per week for six weeks just to make sure I didn't flame out. But I enjoyed it and met my goal...

I really aprreciate the encouragement, Rob, and I would be remiss not to congratulate you on a really impressive year. Keep it up!
