I ran a 5K today.  I got my rear in gear.  Second gear, maybe.

It was windy, rainy and cold.  It was 46 degrees and I was not suitably dressed because I didn't pack more than a t-shirt and shorts.  I did not warm up more than 2 minutes.  My performance was lackluster.  But the weird thing is that I only got passed by 2 people.  One of them was an old friend's husband (she's not old; I've just known her a long time) in the last 1/2 mile of the race.  I went with him for 2 minutes, then looked down at my watch and saw that I was expending way more energy than I felt like expending (we were at a 7:00 pace) and decided that he wanted it way more than I did.  I finished maybe 15 seconds behind him.

But somehow I still managed to win my age division.  That's questionable, but I guess I'll take it.

4 miles felt good today.  I went faster than I would if I went more than 4 miles, but it still felt easy.  8:44 avg. pace.

I know that I will probably regret wishing the wind away when it's 100 degrees and the air is still, but man this wind is not fun.  It was about 50 with 15 mph wind.  I would have liked a little spring weather this year.  Consistent 70s or so would be nice, but we've either been in the 50s or in the 90s.

Now Jillian is staring at me, asking how big my weight loss goal is.  Do you think she wants me to return to her?  I have given her up in favor of the Wii Fit, which I also played today, just casually with my kids.

I am liking this shorter distance faster speed stuff for the time being.  I did almost 1.5 hours on the Wii, concentrating on the strength training and the yoga poses, then went to my SIL for pizza.  I stayed dressed for running, but wasn't sure I would.  I ate pizza, and then decided that if I wanted to love running again, I'd have to, you know, run.  I ran home from my SIL's adding on enough distance to get to 3.5 miles.  I ran at a little over 8:30 pace.

This was slightly more than 3.5 miles, but I don't know exactly how far, nor do I care.  I know that when I started out I was slightly under 9 minute pace, but my watch died and I think I slowed a little probably, but who can say?  It was nice out today, a little warm, but the wind was nice for a change since it wasn't crazy strong and it helped cool me a little when I was running in the sun.

Anyone have any experience with a garmin that won't charge? Mine died yesterday while I was running, I put it on the cradle, and it won't tell me that the battery is already charging. I tried to reset it last night (mode + start button) and nothing happened. This morning I tried again and got a promising beep + the opening screen, but when I put it back on the charger, still nothing.

Any troubleshooting ideas?  I've been searching, but have not had luck yet.

Well, I finished out a 5 day running week, which is loads better than I did the previous 2 weeks.  The only bad thing was that it was pretty hot during the run.  I should have brought some water but when I left it was overcast.  The sun came out a mile later.  I even ran for a while just in my sports bra, which is something I almost never do.  I kept waiting for someone to yell at me to put it back on because I was blinding them with my pale, pasty skin.  But that never happened, which is a good sign.

I got stopped at about 5.5 miles by a funeral procession.  Luckily I had already put my shirt back at about mile 5 because I was getting ready to run through the middle of town.
