Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

Drove home from Gainesville. Surf was up at south jetty, so Tommy and I went. He was out there 3ish hours. Waves were perfect. You know, you hear a lot about surfers getting angry with each other out there about who's wave it is (Back off, Warchild, Seriously). But that has not been my experience in Venice. Everyone out there is encouraging each other. I had 3 guys come up to me on the beach and ask me if Tommy was my son, and then tell me how much he's improving. And then ask me why I'm not out there. I have, for sure, seen improvement. He is really controlling the board now, and is not just standing with the wave controlling him.

I talked for like a half hour, to one of the guys, Mike, who I guess is older than me. (I have trouble guessing age with bald guys.) He just moved down from New Jersey.  He said he was surfing at most every two weeks since he was 12. There was one exception - he broke his T something vertebrae after getting slammed into the ground by a wave in Puerto Rico. Then he took off from surfing for a month. But for the rest of it, he hasn't gone more than 2 weeks in his life without surfing. Going out to surf in Jersey, with the beach covered in snow sounds insane. He has had ear damage from surfing in cold, dirty water. And he had a gazillion other stories that were equally jarring. What an interesting lifestyle choice.

I know all of this is not running related. I just had a big weekend.

4 on the trails.

I've been wearing my A1A fort lauderdale half shirt running lately. It has got to be the ugliest race shirt I have ever received. The jumping ladty is wearing the shirt here: Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Awful, right?

I instantly gave my Med City Marathon shirt to my wife. Pink/peach hoodie, with built-in mask and thumb holes. https://www.postbulletin.com/incoming/7191892-64vyu-Med-City-Marathon-Rojas-Decut-Nunez.JPG/alternates/LANDSCAPE_768/Med%20City%20Marathon%20Rojas%20Decut%20Nunez.JPG
