Felt a bit nippy for late April this morning. Watch temps jump from the 50's to the 90's in the blink of an eye come May. Ran 5 easy with Kim then later did 30 min XT at the gym.

Tom, what is up with your training this year? Are you getting ready for a big training cycle?

Brent I'm taking a bit of a low-key approach to my marathon training this year. The last few years I've made a habit out of training too hard early in the marathon cycle then getting all hammered or injured and then having miserable marathons or not even getting to the starting line at all.
This week I'll finally get to 50 miles on the week first time since January. Also getting about 10 miles equiv XT a week. I'll hold the miles here for a couple more months but start adding in a bit of speed/tempo, with rest weeks every 3-4 weeks 35-45 miles.
Then in June I'll start full blown marathon training cycle, mostly 50-55 mpw plus XT with a few 60 mile weeks mixed in.
Hope this works. Been very frustrating to PR and have positive races at every distance but the 26.2. Just want to have a marathon I feel good about. Don't care if it's a sub-3 this year, just want to feel like I did my best and ran a good race. If I do this I think PR and sub 3:10 at SGM should be doable and sub-3 not out of the question.
Main thing just trying to remember that every run is a great run and enjoy the journey no matter where it leads.
