Slept in a bit today then ran 3 solo before meeting up with Kim for 5 more. Warm today - high 30's - and overcast. Nice to be able to wear shorts! Pretty nice for January although we did get rained on for a few minutes. This week is a RRR week for me (Rest/Recovery/Reduced-miles) to give my body/legs a break before officially beginning the 20-week marathon training cycle leading up to UVM.

I've been fortunate to have built a real nice winter running base and I'm feeling healthy. Nice to already have the base and have the body used to 60 mile weeks before starting the marathon training, as I should be able to start adding in the speed without also having to worry about adding mileage. Hopefully all will go well between now and June.

Geez, Tom. You are going to kill it. That base looks awesome. I didn't realize you were doing so much. Are you shooting for the sub 3 or something?

Thanks Kam. Sub-3 would really be nice but I think sub-3:10 is more realistic for me for UVM. Most likely a sub-3 attempt will have to come at St. George sometime in the next couple years.

I was taught again yesterday that envy and coveting are sins. I'm a sinner. I sure envy and covet your running base.

Honestly, I'm content to just be back running again a little more regularly, and I'm very happy for you. I don't know anyone more deserving of a successful, injury free running season than you. You're due. Good luck with your marathon training.

Not just a nice winter base but an incredible winter base!! You deserve a RRR week. I've had 3 months of them, they are great.

+1 for shorts! you really have built up a solid base and it's going to pay off big time for you in your races this season. keep it up!
