Roughly 6 miles walking in Boston: packet pickup, various eating spots, Blessing of the Athletes, etc.

The Blessing of the Athletes is one of the highlights of Boston for me! It is at The Old South Church right adjacent to the Finish Line. This year they had one of the gentlemen that ran towards the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing (to assist in anyway he could) pronounce the blessing. It was quite touching and made me get teary-eyed. I often get nervous about the bad things that happen in the world, but then something reminds me of how much goodness and kindness is still out there. I think that most people in this world believe in (and share) love and kindness. Humanity always wins in the end. :-)

I also LOVE our traditional pre-race meal at Filippos with Lulu the waitress and Lowell and friends! Another must when you come to Boston. It was especially fun because Christine and Benny made it out this afternoon! So much fun being with them!

Wish I could have spent more time with Smooth! Only saw her and Larry for just a few minutes. They both looked fantastic! Wonder if they will have time to do a quick brunch before leaving Wednesday afternoon. I have never met two people like them! They are AMAZING and certainly radiate that love and kindness I was just referring to! :-)

Not running until the 3rd wave so plenty of time to rest and pump myself up by making silly lip-syncing videos and sending them to Shelbey and Rylee!!!! Race Eve is FUN!

Great post! Almost makes me want to become a marathoner again.

I love going to the Blessing of the Athletes at the Church at the finish Line, The Old South Church!
