In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

Too cold for shorts.  I had to wear my capris for my run this morning.  I ran to Liberty Park and ran part of the perimeter down to 500e and across.  My iPod fell out of my pocket and into the snow...  Mud got into the headphone jack but considering I've dropped it in the ice bath twice I think it will be fine.  I kept running along 500e.  I thought I saw a frozen dog in the gutter at about 1900s, it was just a FREE CAT!  Gross.  I ran all the way out t0 3300s and then turned and ran back along 700e.  I realized part way through that I completely forgot about knee rehab, but it didn't hurt or anything so whatever.  And it's finals week, my mind is occupied with other stuff.  I finished at 10, average pace was 7:20 and the whole run felt pretty easy :)  When I went inside I had a text from Hanah... my ferritin is back down to 24 :'(  I guess I've been slacking on getting my iron, I'll have to work on that.

Today I went running on my own after seeing the dentist :P  I missed the group when they went so no one was around to see my crooked smile!  I did my rehab and then started my run.  I ran up Legacy Bridge and then south on the roads until I reached Sunnyside just below the post office.  Good thing the air was pretty clear today, spitting is hard when half of your face is numb :P  I turned and then ran up above the zoo and onto Wasatch.  Then I started a fartlek, I did ten sets of 1 minute on 1 minute off.  A little past 21st as I finished the 8th set I hit 5 miles so I turned and ran the other way for the last 2, and then returned to campus the same way I had come.

Today I finally went and picked up my winter workout sheet(s)!  I have both the 800/1500 sheet and the long distance sheet.  I am just going to choose stuff from both and modify stuff as I feel necessary and with Kep's approval...  After I got those I grabbed my iPod and went for a hilly run in the avenues :)  I ran down campus to South Temple and 1300e, and then on T Street started my zig-zag up to 11th Avenue :)  I haven't done this run in so long!  On 11th I ran down City Creek and Memory Grove, and went back to campus on South Temple.  I made a long loop around the institute parking area to get up to 10 miles total for the day.  I was really sore from lifting yesterday, and could definitely feel it at the end of the run so I took an ice bath!  And I'm sitting on my foam roller as I type this, so soooore!

Today I took a study break from physics to get my run in.  I took my sweet time getting up to the locker room and doing my rehab in the training room.  I ran up Legacy Bridge and then over to Sunnyside like I did on Tuesday.  Then I ran up Emigration until I hit 5 miles.  I ran back the same way.  When I was finished I iced my knee and did stem on my back.  Front squats and kettle bell swings seem to bother it...

This morning I got up and went for a tempo run at Liberty Park.  I warmed up to the park and then did 3 laps around the perimeter at faster pace.  I wanted to do at least sub 7s, and was able to hold in the 6:40s for most of the time.  The total distance was about a tenth of a mile short of 5 miles I think.  For cooldown I ran to 1700s and then up to 1300e and back to the apartment to finish at 10.  The average pace for the whole thing was 7:00 :)  Now I get to study physics until my final at 3:30!  Then this semester will be done! :)

This afternoon I went for a run in the snow.  Snow was getting in my eyes the first few miles and I was wishing I had worn a hat with a visor, but then it stopped!  I ran down 1300e past Sugarhouse, wiping out on the snow as I passed the big sledding hill, then turned up Parkway Avenue.  I ran down Imperial Street to 3300s and then ran up to Melbourne and then ran back north on 18th east and then 1700e to 2100s, then back home on 1300e.  When I was just past Yale a dog came out of nowhere and just started running with me and I was terrified!  Still haven't got rid of that fear of dogs that came with the bite in October.  It took a few tries of starting and stopping to finally get going without it following me!  Finished at 10 to make it 60 for the week :)
