In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

This morning Ben drove down so we could do a recovery run together since he did Wasatch Back over the weekend and I didn't cool down very long after my race.  We went to Cottonwood Complex.  We did a lap around the softball diamonds, and then went out on 1300e to 3900s, down to 1100e and over to 4500s before going back up to 1300e and then back to the park.  We did another lap around the baseball diamonds, and then went over to the bathrooms for a drink.  Then I showed Ben the region 6 course, though we didn't do all of it.  He finished with 5 and a half miles total and I went to 6.  I made it to the downhill before the turn to head over to Bessie.  My calves were pretty sore but they were fine as I kept going.  Also I was about to go at about 8 minute pace which was awesome because I felt like we were going a lot slower!

Today I just had time for a run to Sugarhouse, a grass lap, and then home since I had to get to campus to take a test.  My right hip was hurting pretty bad at work yesterday so I asked Hana if I could get it looked at sometime.  This morning it feels fine, I hope it can hold up for another 8 hour shift tonight!

This morning Abigail and I got our runs done early at Sugarhouse.  We missed the group by 5 minutes but decided we'd just do laps on the grass.  After the first lap we stopped to stretch for a few minutes, then we did 2 laps in the opposite direction.  Being done by 7:30 I have to admit was a little weird since usually that'd be when we're waking up to go run!

This morning I took my iPod for a run to Fairmont.  I stayed on 14th east until it ended and then cut down to 13th.  I had a thought that this week and next week are like a long game of fugitive since I am limited for places to run trying to avoid the direction of campus and runs that we do from there.  At 2100s I cut through the shopping center and then across Highland Drive and past the old DI to Fairmont park.  I did a lap and then a little more until I reached 2.75, and then turned and did a lap the opposite way and then ran back home the same way I came.  I did countdown abs when I got home.  As for my hip, it didn't hurt that bad today.  The doctor wasn't that helpful yesterday, he told me to take advil.  And he used an xray from 2009 to make the diagnosis.  I'm getting a second opinion.

This morning Abigail wanted me to do a long run with her.  Since I couldn't think of any loop I wanted to do, we got dropped off at 6200s and 2300e.  We would have started from the road we ran to Sugarhouse from when it was a really windy day, but we didn't know the way but we figured 6200 would be fine since we would be running to our house.  The first mile we felt great but I think both of us kinda crashed after that.  Potty break at Great Harvest and then continued on our way.  When I got to Keller Lane I waited for Abigail to see if she was doing alright, and then I kept going.  From there I was able to bring the pace down the rest of the run.  When I got to 1400e I disliked the trees dropping all the yellow floaters.  Finished at 8.5 and walked the rest of the way home.  The car odometer said 8 to where we started but since Abigail wanted 10 anyway I guess extra was fine.

This morning Ben came over and we decided to go run Pipeline since we haven't done that in a while :)  the idea even pulled Abigail out of bed to come along.  We ran all the way out to Rattlesnake and then stopped to enjoy the view before going back.  There were a lot of people on the trail today and on the way out I was kind of annoyed at a large group of runners who made us step aside for each of them rather than each of them moving just a little bit to let 2 of us by.  Fortunately we did not see them on the way back.  Just before we got back to the bridge I tripped and ripped my hand open :(  but since the river was right there I went ahead and rinsed the dirt out of my hand and tore the skin off while it was numbed.  It stung the rest of the way back.  Once we got off the trail we added just a little extra to get to 9.5.  And I didn't realize before but that rounded off my weekly mileage nicely at 40 :)
