In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

I started my run around 10 and it was already 80 degrees... so I'm glad my sister was willing to babysit!  I seriously need to try and get myself up earlier and go.  Probably at 5 since Ellie has been waking up at that time every night for about the past week.  From my parents house I  ran along 1300e to campus, then along 1400e and Virginia Street up to 11th Avenue.  I took 11th all the way to B street and then cut down and took the switch backs down into Memory Grove.  This was a good stop for a bathroom and water break.  I ran out of Memory Grove and then to South Temple to go back east.  I went up to 1400e when I normally would have just gone to 13th, knowing my route would be a little short of 10, but it turned out to be a really good idea because of the water fountain just east of Reservoir park!  Then at 500s I went up to Guardsman and was able to get more water at Sunnyside.  Finished with 10 back at my parents house.  So glad to be out of the heat and enjoying the air conditioning of the library!

This morning Ellie got to spend time with Jesse at the library while I went for my run :)  I went to Sunnyside and did the old flagpole loop.  7:21 average pace.  Afterwards I went to the Smith and got my lift done, I had the whole weightroom to myself!  A sure sign of summer.

This morning I took the stroller for a run up City Creek.  I started at the Capitol.   As I was starting I was noticing how tall the grasses were on the side of the road and decided to run more in the middle of the lane to avoid anything that could be hiding in them.  Sure enough, a quarter mile in there was a snake on the road!  I picked it up and let Ellie play with it :)  Only joking!!!  I had to stop and get pictures because it was the second biggest wild snake I've ever seen (the first was in Yellowstone several years ago and my brother was about to step on that one).  I'm pretty sure it was a gopher snake, so it was harmless.  I put a picture on instagram, username runsusannah if anyone wants to see.  The rest of my run was uneventful as far as wildlife goes.  3 miles later I saw a lizard on the road, but it got away before I could get a picture.  I was planning on just doing 8, but when I got to the 4 mile mark I had already passed the signs saying the water shed was close so I decided to go until I got there. 4.25 miles and I was at the water shed.  The road narrows here, I've made it to this point once before.  As I stopped to catch my breath a biker complimented me on having made it with the stroller.  I was sure looking forward to the downhill on the way back!  My quads and shins felt tired on the way up.  Finished back to the car with 8.5 total.  Didn't see my snake friend on the way back.

This morning I took Ellie in the stroller to Jordan River trail.  I went out 4 miles and back.  Ellie serenaded me with her cries the last 2 miles.  She just wanted me to be done running, because she stopped as soon as the stroller stopped, and she was just fine on the car ride home.  She's a sweetheart.  In the last half mile I saw another snake!  Much smaller than the one yesterday.  Barely snapped a picture as it reached it's hiding place in the tall grass.  7:28 average pace.

This morning I started my run from Sunnyside park again. I did the Albertson's loop, but ran along Guardsman and up 500s to get to Foothill on the way out and again on the way back to get to 8 total. Lifted afterwards. My shins were hurting later, I'm sure from lifting because the packet includes a lot of jumping.
