In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.
Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.
Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions. At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history. Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction. After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200. After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.
My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie. This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites. At state I took 3rd. At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend. I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race. At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals. Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17. I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title. I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :) Now in college, I run for the University of Utah. I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track. Sophomore year I improved in cross country. In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals. Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

| | I missed practice today since I was doing first-aid certification with Giselle. It was windy outside! So I started my run into the wind with the intention of just doing an out and back. I ran to 2100s then up to 1700e, then over the freeway to the next street and up to 20th east. I didn't want to run into the wind anymore, so at 2700s I turned left and decided to do my over the freeway loop backwards. After I was across the first bridge and down on the trail leading up to the second bridge, just before the hill steepens up to the other bridge I almost caught up to a male runner who, upon noticing I was about to pass him, pick up his pace. Then he kept checking back to see how close I was. SO ANNOYING! And I could see him doing that from the point I almost passed him until I finally turned onto Thunderbird. I am surprised he held me off for that long, but if it meant that he was doing his normal run too slow and needed to pick up his pace to get a decent run in then fine, whatever. I was still kinda mad that I didn't get to pass him. I let it go while I was on Wasatch and enjoyed being able to just run. When I turned down 1300s, the light to cross Foothill had just changed and that same runner was crossing the street! And he wasn't going as fast anymore, he must have slowed down when he looked back and realized I wasn't there anymore. Vengeance is so sweet :) I picked up my pace just to make sure I'd catch that light too, then flew past him, though he was on the other side of the street. I thought I heard someone, probably him, yell "Hey", and maybe it was at me, but I ignored it since I had my iPod in and just kept going. I was laughing on the inside. :) But now I am going to let that laughter out on the blog so HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :)

| | This morning we had a workout at the track. The long distance group decided to start our warmup at 9, which meant we had snow... But right when we got to the workout, the snow stopped! :) The workout was between 15-20 laps of 200 at a quicker pace, with the recovery 200 being at threshold pace. For Bekah and me, Kep put the times at 39 and 47, but said that within 2 or 3 seconds was fine. We did one 200 at 39 to get a feel for the pace, and a 100 in 24, which really confused Kep since he thought we didn't understand the workout. We got going, and decided to swith off on the inside every 4 laps to help us keep track of where we were at. I didn't get all of the splits, but mostly the faster ones were 39s and 40s, so that was good. Kep said it would be ok if we were around 90 for each 400, I was splitting mostly 87s and 88s. I made it through miles 1 and 2 ok, but the second half of mile 3 it started to get tough. Bekah started to cut the corner for the recovery since she didn't want to go over time. For about 2 laps like that I stayed on the outside and pushed my pace to be able to be there when she cut back in. By lap 13 I was on my own. My goal then I decided was to make it to 16, these were getting hard! The last fast 200 was about 42, so there was my confirmation that it was time to be done. But I'm glad I got in 16 in a row! And since I didn't do this workout my freshman or sophomore year. Afterwards I cooled down with Lauren and Jessica for a bit, then added on some on my own to get to 10 total.

| | This morning I went running with Becky and Jessica before weights. We started from the Smith and ran up 500s/Foothill and continued until 2300e, took that to 2100s and then went down to 1900e to return to campus. I added on about a mile at Sunnyside since I was going to be just short of 7 going directly back to the Smith.
In the afternoon I ran to 2700s and back to get another 5 miles.

| | This morning I went to Liberty to meet Bekah for the workout. I caught her and Becky during the warmup so I did the last part of the warmup with them, then the strides and drills. Alyssa was there too but she had started later so we kinda just got going. The workout was 15-10-5 minutes threshold, with 3 minutes rest after the 15, and 2 minutes rest after the 10. Kep told us to try and go 6:00-6:05 pace for the 15, then that we could pick it up for the 10 and 5. For the 800 split of the 15 minute, I was at 2:57. I relaxed a bit, but Bekah kept going. I still was hitting 2:59 and 2:58 for 800 splits though, and I felt great. For the 10 minutes I started out fast, coming through the 800 in 2:50! And was still at 5:40 through the mile. But I had a bad ache in my right abdominal area (it was there on my second run yesterday too, I think just from eating too soon before running), but even with that only slowed down to 5:50 pace. For the last 5 minutes I came through the 800 in 2:55. The distances I covered in each set were 2.5 miles, 1.7 miles, and .82 miles. Then we did four 30 second strides with 2 minute recovery. I cooled down 3.25 miles to finish with 12 total.

| | This morning I went for a run around Provo in my Utah gear as part of enjoying spring break with my sister :) I ran on 900e to campus, wove through campus, then kept heading north on University Avenue. I kept going until about 2200 north and then headed east, making it back to 900e and passing the MTC and by campus again. I was at 7.5 when I got back to my sister's place, so I added on a little more going towards 7 peaks and around the neighborhoods there. Finished with 10 miles total and an average pace of 6:59. My legs felt great!
