13.1 in 1:48:52 -- Crappy, no good run today! I wasn't in the mood to head out, no energy, no one to run with.......got ready and pushed myself today. I knew I was in trouble by the time that I hit the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon about .7 from my house. I am usually still chattering from the cold and today I was already in a sweat. I was wishing I had my short, running shorts on with a tank. Took off my sweaty hat and gloves at mile 4 at my pit stop at the Smith's on Bengal Blvd. and chewed down half of a Shot Blok. Mile 5, I started to have stabbing pains in my left ovary. Guys just don't have the same cyclic problems that women do and it just isn't fair. I thought I was going to die of pain by mile 6...I had to stop and walk and about 6.5, I almost stopped a car to take me home or to the ER. I was in so much pain....by mile 7...I thought I was going to die, the cyst must have popped and it started not hurting as bad. By mile 8.5, the pain was gone. I have had this happen to me several times, sometimes it is during races. It seems to happen more when I am pushing myself. Really, it is not fair that guys don't have to worry about when the race day is and where their cycle is and how their body will react. I pushed myself the entire run, I really wanted to come in under 1:50 so that I could beat my last weeks run since I was running the exact same course. I felt that I was pushing myself too hard. I thought I was going to puke from mile 11 on. I kept getting hot and it felt like my legs were going to crack they were hurting so bad. I think it is interesting how different the exact same run can be one week later. Last week I pushed myself, but I felt great through the whole run and thought I could run another 5 after I had finished. This run, I was never so glad to have it be over and I laid on my parents living room floor and thought I was going to puke for about 10 minutes after the run. I did meet my goal...I ran it in just more than a minute faster than last week. :) I'm wondering how I ever ran a full marathon after a run like today! My hub was sick with the stomach flu last night. I am still feeling sick. I hope it is just from a hard run and I am not getting the flu too! yuck!
