I woke up feeling great and looking forward to a great run of my favorite Little Cottonwood 5 miler and then heading up the Bells Canyon trail up to the lake and back after dropping off my 4 year old at preschool in the afternoon. So, I cleaned and did laundry and then looked at my calendar and I stared at the 1:30 ortho appt. for my 13 yr old! UGH! I was so bugged! I then thought, it is suppose to be nice weather tomorrow too, so I will go tomorrow. Then I realized that I get to go to school with my preschooler for a parent day party. I finally have my miles up a bit and the weather is not going to be nice like this for long and then I will be stuck with my treadmill! :( I dropped off my 4 yr old and went to the middle school and parked. I turned on my Garmin. I didn't know where I would go, but started to run. I had 50 minutes. I ran up to the mouth of Big Cottonwood and back with 4 minutes to spare. It was beautiful. It was a fun run. I loved every second of my 50 minutes of freedom! I listened to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker while running today. I love classical music....I think it comes from a father that would blare Mozart, Bach and the Three Tenors during every family road trip. I hated the music then (still don't like Opera), but have grown to appreciate it in my old age. My daughter has been in the Ballet West's version of the Nutcracker every year for the past couple of years. When I am tired of watching ballet, I close my eyes and enjoy the beauty of the Utah Symphony Orchestra as they play in the Capital Theatre....nothing quite like it! :) |
