Short-Term Running Goals:

Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

Long-Term Running Goals:

QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON! April 16, 2011

Ran Boston on April 14, 2012!

Personal:

Married, 40 year old, mother of four.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

I couldn't decide weather to run an easy half and run it with my friend or make it a race.  I was at the starting line and the gun went off and I thought...well, it is a race and even though I am not in the greatest shape thought I should give it my all. It was a PR for me.  It was a fun run and made some new friends along the way.

I'm in Lake Powell now and had the most beautiful run yesterday morning from Page, AZ to the Wahweap Ranger Station.  I ran across the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge.  So beautiful.  This is my favorite place to run.  I love Powell!  Two full days of water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing.  Kids are having fun. One more day to go in the sun! :)

Nice job on the PR without even trying. I should try to get a PR without even trying. But I guess trying by not trying would be trying.

I was thinking you didn't finish the race or something...since it took so long to post your report. Now you sound like it was a frollic in the park! I wish I could blog, even a training run, as if it were so easy :-) Anyway, really, really nice!!!!!

Look at that Amy, you got injured, rested and have improved your 1/2 PR. See, people can and do get faster after running over time. Nice going! :)

Wow, great work on the PR. Enjoy the rest of your vacation (that is if you're still there...if you're not, sorry!)

Not in the greatest shape! Whatever! Maybe you should always race when you are OUT OF SHAPE!

NICE!!!!

Hope Lake Powell was a blast (I think you are now on your way home??)
