I miss everyone!  I'm glad some of you are on facebook so that I can keep up with some of the things in your life.  It is too hard for me to get on here and read what you are running everyday.....it just about kills me! :(

It's been 6 weeks since surgery.  My knee is feeling and looking better.  I have 2 more weeks before I go in to see the doctor.  I have been trying to be really good.....which is REALLY hard for me.

The weather has been so beautiful, the mountains are green and I can only imagine what they are smelling like right now. I still wake up some times and think it has all just been a bad dream until reality hits me again.

I keep thinking that I hope there is running and hiking in heaven.  I can't believe that I will never feel the feeling that I love ever again.  Part of what I love about running and hiking is how hard it is though and if we have perfect bodies in heaven, I don't think running and hiking will be difficult, so it makes me sad because what I love is the pushing myself when my legs and my body just feel like they can't go anymore.  I love the feeling of exhaustion and pain that comes from running and hiking........I can't explain it really, I just love it.....and I am so completely sad that I won't ever have that again.  I know, I know....very shallow of me to be thinking that I want to do this stuff in heaven.  I don't know what it will be like there, but I am hoping that we can still do the things we love here because I can't imagine it being heaven if we can't! I hope none of you have anything like this happen to you.  Injuries are hard, but you still know that it is only for a time and you will be back at it, and the starting over again is kind of a fun challenge to get yourself back in good shape. This is really unbearable.  I keep tearing up EVERY single day when I am out and see someone running.  I am usually a really positive person and I thought it would take me a week or two to get things under control, but I am still so sad every single day!  I guess that is why I am dreaming about running and hiking in heaven so that I have something to look forward to and hope that I will be able to run again.

My hub did buy me a bike the day before Mother's Day for my present from him and the kids.  He has been wonderful to me.  He works so many hours and is so stressed out all of the time that he has put on about 20 pounds that he just can't get off.  He wakes up at 4:30 to be able to exercise before work and some mornings he is so tired that he just doesn't do it.  He told me that we can just grow fat and old together.  He bought himself a bike too and thought that maybe we can actually be able to exercise together.......but, he never really has any extra time.   My bike is a mountain bike.  He asked around and a guy that he works with that is a big biker said that mountain bikes give you a better workout even if you use them on the road, so that is what he got me.  It is a Specialized Jett.  I don't know anything about bikes yet, but I am sure I will figure it out.  One thing I have learned is that biking outfits are more expensive than running ones and they are UGLY!  I love my cute running skirts, I guess I will be wearing those on my bike to make me feel better! ha!!

Me, my hub and my new bike that I can't ride yet!

3 weeks out....

One month out....   The line on my other leg is from the clothes I had on.  It looks funny.

Oh Amy! I can only imagine how heart breaking this is for you. I hope that being able to get back on the bike does you well. If you ever want to ride, I do a 'queen of the hill' ride on Mondays at 5:30 from Bangerter and 13400S. I know it is a little bit far for you, but it is a GREAT group of ladies. I know Canyon Bicycles in Draper also does ladies rides during the week. You should check into it.

I had to laugh as you were describing the pain and fatigue and loving it. Aren't we strange creatures? It is the only way to get your fix to push so hard you feel like you're going to die! :) We understand.

Steam.. You'll be back! Just let your body heal up. Plus I'm working on the trike to push you around..

RAD--the bike ride sounds great. I am going to have to get in biking shape first. I hope I can start to bike a bit now.

OREO---you are too kind---NOT! I wish I could make a face with my tongue sticking out at you! ;) It actually might be kind of fun to see how sore you would be after pushing me around for an 8 miler on a trike!!!

Love the bike shoes :)

Hi Steam,

It's good to hear you knee is healing. Hopefully you will be out on the bike soon. I think you will eventually want to get a road bike. There's nothing like going 40 miles an hour down a long straight hill! I like the speed :-)

Good to hear from you. Knee looks awesome! Bike shoes a bit sketchy though... will still be looking for you on the trails around Little Bell Res...you'll be out again someday...

Everyone is thinking about you, and often. Keep your chin up. There are ways to enjoy the beauty of the mountains, just probably not in the same way you used to.

As for hiking in heaven, it will be there, I'm certain. I'm absolutely certain.

I echo IJR. You'll love the speed. Where did you get those awesome bike shoes? I need to get me a pair:)

Hi Amy! I love that you are still on the blog - you are so amazing! I hope your follow-up appointment goes well and that you might be able to ride your cool new bike soon. And I know you will look super cute on it no matter what you wear.

I like your "deep thoughts" about running in heaven. It reminded me about our family's on-going debate about whether or not there will be food in heaven. A few of us say, if there's no food, why would I want to go there? - same thing with the running, right?

Have a fun summer and just enjoy those cute little kids of yours! :)

From Smooth on Sun, Jun 24, 2012 at 22:32:28 from 174.27.192.130

Hi sweet Amy! Hope you are working up a sweat on that awesome mountain bike and enjoying the canyons and summer days with your cute kids! I really believe that you will run and hike again, and I am not talking about in heavens due time. Keep the faith! :)

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Jul 08, 2012 at 12:30:40 from 98.247.27.122

Hey, I hope you're getting some miles in on that new bike. I've been riding a little bit too since I got a stress fracture in my foot.

From Rye on Sat, Jul 14, 2012 at 10:48:14 from 174.27.111.36

Hey Amy.... we all want to hear about your biking! Keep us informed!

From Teena Marie on Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 16:29:45 from 67.2.96.50

Just dropped in to see how you are doing. :)

Hope you and the hubs are enjoying your mountain bikes. I have a Specialized mtn bike and LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Some of my all time favorite memories are mtn biking with my Ryan (even more so than running). We try to do it at least once a week and absolutely LOVE Corner Canyon in Draper.

You are spot on with the biking outfits. Ugghh! I wear the same shorts every time I bike because I can't get myself to spend more money on ugly shorts!!!! :)

Anyway, just thinking about you.
