Get back into shape and lower my running times (5K and 10K in particular).

Personal:

I ran cross country and track in high school in good old Indiana and at Valparaiso University in college. I've been married for 14 years now to my beautiful wife Kathleen. We have 3 wonderful kids, and I teach physics, astronomy, and earth science at Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL.

It was my favorite 3 mile workout along the trail.  I started off around 7:30 pace and hit the 2 mile around 14:45.  Then I decided to push the pace a little more the last mile and ended up with 21:10 for the 3 miles for about 7:03/mile total.

why are you only running 3 everyday? Are you just starting up again? If you can land a 6:25 for the last mile there you should be able to do 5-6 miles everyday a bit slower (8min pace no problems). This will probably benefit you more, and get you into shape faster.

I am just starting up, but I also had a small ankle injury a couple weeks back. I wanted to strengthen that a little bit before I started doing longer mileage. I'll probably do a 5 mile long run this week, and then increase the mileage a little more next week.
