Five miles at SHS in the dark, starting at 9:30. Think it had cooled off any? Not hardly. It was 98 when I started, maybe 96 when I finished. Lot of people out there; they were playing some kind of game on the turf with a lighted frisbee or something. Struggled a bit with the heat, but got it done.

Too tired last night after a day in the car to do my planned 5, so I made up for it today with 10 miles at MAFC. Went OK, except the leg went numb at 3.5. I walked three laps and it eased up; ran other three laps and the numbness was gone. Not sure of pace, because I intentionally left my watch in my locker. Probably went a little faster than I had planned; chased the Hispanic chick for a mile or so and tried to stay ahead of other runners later. But it went OK. Still gonna try to do 18 Saturday; we'll see how that goes.

Progression run at MAFC in the new Adizeros. I'd forgotten what having a little cushioning felt like (meaning, man, those Kinvaras were worn out). Last mile was not too much over 8:00, which right now probably constitutes a tempo run for me. Shoes were fine; maybe tiny hot spot on the ball of the right foot, but that might be due to old socks.

Slogged out 18.8 at Chaffee, mostly with Kathy and Lionel and two new people, Brenda and Richard. Started slow, got slower as the temps climbed. It went from 73 to 86 in the course of the 3.5 hours. Ran 14.9 with that group, the last four miles alone. Struggle. Can I finish 26 in 14 days? Maybe if its 30 degrees cooler, which it might be.
