Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

55F, cloudy w/ pretty sunrise.  G-A run.  20 min. strength work.

This was to be a progression run, but I never progressed past the "moderate" stage.  I should have run this one yesterday, when the legs were so happy.  A little tired today.

Everytime that I read "A little tired today," I yawn.

Even on tired legs you ran farther than yesterday!

There's a free 5k at Steilacoom Park this weekend.. All the cool kids will be there :)

Thanks, R, for the invite. But I have got to get back to my long runs or I'm going to go crazy. And the weekend after this one is going to be yet another weird schedule. I was passing by Steilacoom on Monday - such a lovely place.

You don't have to stop at 5k. It's a beautiful park with a lake and lots of trails. That's ok though, I won't take it personal or anything :)

Sounds like a "Moderate" progression run to me. Those are good for what would've been otherwise plain old vanilla "easy" days. Good work.

Wish I had an excuse for being in the tired club... but I don't, just tired.

Sounds like you had a lovely run today!

Your mileage is going up again! When is the next marathon? I've been thinking about you as it gets sunnier here; I love it, but I bet you don't (:

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Jun 23, 2010 at 17:56:53 from 24.18.192.33

It's been very pleasant here. Not too sunny yet. I'm running the new Winthrop Marathon in late September.

Hey, that one looks pretty nice. Hadn't caught that one before now....thanks for the (inadvertent) tip.

From Running Donkey on Wed, Jun 23, 2010 at 18:26:08 from 208.77.153.5

That one DOES look nice. If I wasn't already registered for Portland I would want to do that one instead. Can't wait to read the race report for this one!
