No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

I am a little concerned by the fact that there are zero race reports from Chicago as of this writing.  ???

And is it just me, or is the format of the race reports page a little mysterious?  When new reports come in, they are not necessarily at the top of the list.  But the races don't seem to be in alphabetical order or even grouped together by race name.  The most useful format would be most-recent-at-top, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The only clear rule is that all races from one day are together.  But as a former librarian and a true INTJ, the lack of obvious "filing rules" really bugs me.

Nice PNW morning: grey and cool.  :)

They are sorted by speed of finish time and then by day. As far as I know there were two bloggers running Chicago, Auntie and Patrick Kearney - do you know of any more?

Nice run today!! I am coveting your weather right now!

Thanks for the explanation.

DaveL also ran it. He's in my r club.

It makes it difficult to try and read all the race reports from a particular race as new ones jump in the middle.

From Snoqualmie on Mon, Oct 11, 2010 at 16:29:12 from 24.18.192.33

When I consider the sporadic and random way in which the race reports come in, grouping by pace seems like the least useful way to list them. I check back to see what new reports are in and have to pick through the list all over again. "Did I read that one yet? No? Yes? Yes. OK..."

But from Sasha's point of view, I can see how he would want to make sure it was a ranked list, speed being the only really important qualification. Another moment of wondering whether I belong on this blog... Well, if I ever did go elsewhere, I must remember to come back in ten or fifteen years to see if his perspective changes with age. But hey, it's his machine.

Sno ... I don't think that is it. I think that when Sasha started the blog he wrote things in a way that "he" thinks about things - that is not to say that it is the only way or the best way, it was just his way. The blog has grown, and with such a diverse set of users it is only natural that some of us think in different "ways". Not better or worse, just different. Since this is not a money making venture, he has not put the time to evaluate all different ways to examine things - unless you specify a desire on the forum suggesting a change be made he has no way of knowing what you may think of as useful.

I tend not to think of it on whether I belong, of course I belong, people here care about me, listen to me, take time to write to me, and more often than not, I feel this has been a forum for meet to meet some pretty cool people that I might not have met otherwise. I think the same might be true for you?

I used to use the coolrunning log - it had a lot more bugs than this blog, and the first iteration (it is now part of active) did not allow for "sharing" of your training and getting input from others. So, I much prefer fastrunningblog myself.

And, I hope you feel like you belong, since there are a whole lot of us who would miss checking in on you every day if you weren't here.

Thanks, Bonnie. Those are very kind words. I just think if Sasha had read my last race report I'd be getting the ol' eviction notice. (See the home screen message about being "fast.") But, then again, I never got one back when I was eating up so much space on his server with my epic-novel sized posts. lol I'm just peevish today.

go sno go! I too have been looking for Chicago reports....

From nicole on Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 23:58:30 from 76.22.105.167

I agree with you completely about wishing it was by most recent Sno! Especially when there are LOTS of race reports (like major Utah race weekends), I'm never sure if I've already read some reports or not, and ones that get posted later than a day or two after I probably never read.

Have you heard from Auntie Em?

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Oct 13, 2010 at 11:54:55 from 24.18.192.33

We'll hear from her soon, I'm sure. She is a free spirit. :)
