No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

43F, partly cloudy, patchy light fog.  2 mi easy, 2 mi MP+30 sec., 2 mile easy.  20 min. strength training.

That bit of faster running was a whim.  Call it the intoxicating effect of fog (I adore fog).

Leg recovery index (1-5): Soreness-3, Perceived muscle strength-4, Monkeys per leg-1.

Your leg recovery index from Saturday's 20 miler looks better than expected. You must have been feeling good to do MP +30 seconds on a whim.

No monkeying around for you!

Just keep taking it easy from here on out... Let's BQ this thing!

I love your attitude, Jeff! And I don't mean to sabotage myself in any way, but I would be delighted with just a good PR. My PR is from nearly 3 years ago for goodness sakes! It's time to see some improvement! And I wouldn't say no to a BQ either. ;)

Hey Now! You are going to nail this thing...I'm telling you! Wait till you see the course and how flat and gorgeous it is...PR is fine but I hope you are shooting for a BQ...that way we could run that thing together too...Too much work to let this baby pass...all the stars are lining up for us...

+1 on that BQ! The time is right. You are such a strong runner! We need you at the FRB party in Boston next year :)

Intoxicating fog, huh? It was so foggy you could not see how fast you were running? You know, based on the beautiful pictures you have posted of your neck of the woods, I bet fog is way cool!!!

From Snoqualmie on Mon, May 24, 2010 at 20:06:04 from 24.18.192.33

Oh believe me, I want that BQ for sure. But I have toed many a start line thinking I had a shot and learned that I didn't.

It would be great fun to go to Boston with you all!
