Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

53F, cloudy, calm & dry. Easy pace run.

My legs still are not feeling 100% since Saturday's run, which I attribute to running so many miles in the Piranha's. That's not something I've done before, but I'm sure it will make me stronger.

Absolutely perfect running weather this morning, imo.  Lovely and cool.  I saw two bucks and a doe, but they all seemed to be getting along. No love wars this time of year I guess.  Got a nice picture of them, but too little time at the moment to post it.

For anyone still interested in my cat saga,  he is still indoors and he is still pretty angry about it.  We get the cat alarm at about 3:30 or 4 every morning, and he spends about 90 minutes "talking about his feelings" about 3 times a day.  I never had a colicky baby, but I suppose this is what that's like.  His walking harness proved inadequate and he did a quick Houdini move and escaped from it last week, so no walks until the new Bengal-proof walking jacket comes in the mail.

So I wonder if he got out of his collar himself last time he went missing.

Congratulations on the great running weather.

Sounds like the kitty wants his freedom! (It's always hard trying to decide whether to give it to them or not.)

Glad you got some nice cool weather for running; it is WAY hot in Salt Lake City!

Oh running and seeing doe/deer...sounds blissful! I, too, enjoy hearing about the "Cat Who _______"....yes and the saga continues.

Sorry about the tired legs; you are probably right, though, it will make you stronger. The cat issue will definitely make you stronger! I can only imagine how much "talking" I'd have to endure if my boys did not get outside! Jesus is famous for ditching his collar; about once a month - no idea how he does it.
