Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

The Cat Who Must Be Obeyed is back!  All signs indicate that he has been held captive in someone's house all week.  He's quite well -- not starved, hurt, or otherwise traumatized.  He certainly hasn't spent the week fighting for survival in the woods.

I guess I'll try not to complain ever again when he wakes me up at 4 AM to go outside, because that's the sort of behavior that probably won him his freedom. I hope he drove them crazy with howling and peeing all over. I hope he ruined their furniture and kept them up every night.  I have tried many times to make him an indoor cat, so I know what he's capable of when confined.

It was about 4:15 AM when our two other cats leapt off the bed and went thundering down the hall.  I was half awake anyway, but that brought me fully awake and into a sitting position.  Then I heard the unmistakable meow on the front porch.  Words cannot express my happiness!  But I am also so angry at whoever took him.  What I have been through this week is pure misery. As much as I complain about his imperious ways, this is the best, most affectionate, dearest cat I've ever had.

Oh, and I also had a little run this morning.  Almost completely irrelevant...   ;)

Here is His Majesty, safe at home:

Oh and good run LOL

So happy he's back! My Jesus goes on his adventures sometimes, and life is never right until I hear his voice on the front steps.

Great running too, although completely irrelevant. So sorry you will not be about when I'm down next week.

Hooray! I'm so glad he came home. I want you to be happy.

And nice miles today too. Your recovery seems to be going well.

It's beautiful day! Thanks everyone.

BTW, my legs are still junk, and full of monkeys. But I didn't care. In fact, I cannot stop grinning even now

That is such good news about your kitty, who is absolutely gorgeous by the way!

I finally put in a small cat door in my window because my big neutered boy cat had the same behaviors as your cat: he would pee inside (ALFUL!), but instead of yowling, he would jump all over my bed/dressers/bookcases in the middle of the night until I got up to let him out. The cat door was a perfect solution to his pestering me all night. I do feel a little guilty that he could get into trouble at night (foxes, etc.), but I figure he is at least a happier cat. Keep grinning & keep running!

Thanks, CL! We have an odd arrangement, since I am determined to keep the other two indoors. There is a cat door from the laundry room, but the door to that room stays shut to keep the other little noodle-heads inside. It's amazing what we go through for these pets of ours, but not illogical. I was more and more devastated with each passing day of him being gone. I believe the love of pets and children is just part of our humanity.

Terrific news! I'm so happy for you (and the cat who...)!

Our cat has been living with Gma and Gpa in North Bend and was chased this a.m. by some off leash dogs and died of a heart attack or something...glad to hear yours is back!

Oh Jeff, that is horrible!!! I am so sorry to hear that. What a tragic end for an innocent little being. My sincere condolences.
