Marathon PR: 4:17 at Portland Marathon, Oct. 2007

5K PR 24:37 2009

10K PR 52:58 2010

Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :) 


Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year. 

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010. 

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

46F to 61F; mostly sunny w/ a little bit of fog early.  Objectives: endurance run, club run, Leg Builder Hill, & mostly: psychological strength for Newport in 3 weeks.  

Very nice run. I will admit that going up the LB Hill (miles 19-21) made me really, really want to be somewhere else.  And it was bright and hot (for what I'm used to) the last few miles.  But all in all, a very successful run.

While cruising around Old Snoqualmie before meeting up with the club, I took this picture of the Snoqualmie River with a patch of fog and Mt. Si in the background.  It was lighter out than it looks but my cruddy iPhone camera can't handle backlighting.

Glad you all like the picture. It was such a cool moment, with the peace and stillness all around and just birds singing.

Jeff- Honk anytime. I am so used to runners honking at me now that I'm in the club, especially when wearing that bright club shirt, that I automatically assume it's a friend now.

That picture was taken with an iPhone??? WOW! Absolutely beautiful. I am so jealous of your scenery, you are one lucky woman.

Nice job on that long run!! you are such an amazing runner. So what strategies do you use on those hills to make you forget that you want to be somewhere else? That mind over matter thing really gets me sometimes.

Kelli - To be more specific, I remind myself that it is finite and that it will soon be done, so long as I keep moving! Then it's like magic - I'm there. "Don't think, just run" is another good mantra for me. I try not to look at all the hill that looms before me (it's 2 miles long and quite steep). I also like to say to myself, "twenty minutes from now I won't be here!" So it's more of a "strategic denial" than a willpower thing.

The picture - thx. I just wish the foreground wasn't so dark and you could see all the plants and flowers.
