Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Too sick to do any cleaning, so I posted my Boston Marathon report on the blog. I have been feeling icky emotionally and physically the last two weeks. I have restless nights from coughing and difficult breathing, and when sleeps do come, I have nightmares of the bombings. I continue to feel sad for the victims and their families. Time is going by too fast! Soon I will leave my children, grandchildren, dear friends and loved ones. I feel so unprepared to serve. Elder Zwick told us that the four months before our mission is the hardest time, once we enter the mission field we will have no time to think about anything, all the things that seem important before will not even be on our radar. I know I will fall in love with the work and our missionaries. I will have the wonderful opportunities to train, to teach, to work alongside my husband in this sacred work of the Lord. I know the next three years is going to fly by quickly. Right now I just wish this sickness would go away and I could be my normal self doing the things I love. Made an appointment to see the doctor this afternoon.

I am so glad you are going to see the doctor. Rylee started feeling a lot better last night (4 days after she started the meds) and finally had a restful sleep.

You take on so much. Your spirit just is too strong for any human body! You go go go go go.

I hope the night terrors will end for you as well. Hopefully your mind and your body will be able to work through all of the emotional and physical stress that it has experienced as of late.

Thinking about you. Luvs.

Hope you were able to get some relief from the doctor visit.

You're going to bring so many wonderful blessings to those you'll be serving, and we will look forward to Boston 2017!

I hope you are feeling better you sweetheart. You have dreams about the bombings? You have such a big and tender heart, you are aching for all of the victims. So sad.

Soon enough, you will drowned in your mission and love every minute of it. You will love those kids and be such an amazing example to all those that have the pleasure knowing you.

Catherine came for dinner yesterday and told me she and her friend ( who were within 300 feet of the first blast) have both seen councilors for PTSD. It's real. She has had terrible nightmares and horrible crushing feelings of guilt. Please be good to yourself. We love you so much. You have so much good to do in Australia .

SSF ~ So glad Rylee is finally feeling better. I'm heading that way too. Simply have no time to be sick. :) Brighter days are ahead, I just know it! Thanks for your loving thoughts. BTW, did I ever mention how much I appreciate your calls at Boston. It's no coincidence that only your calls, Ann's and Larry's call came thru. It means so much! Luvs! :)

QQP ~ Thank you for your positive and kind loving words. I truly appreciate you checking on me. And yes, I look forward to Boston 2017 and I sure hope you'll be there too! :)

Nancy ~ thanks, I so appreciate your comments and "dropping by" regularly! :)

Bec ~ you are so kind. Thank you. I'm so happy you're in Utah!

Luz ~ thank you thank you for being my friend. Just knowing that I'm not the only one having PTSD makes me feel a whole lot better. I am carrying this guilt that "if I had not been running Boston, my family would not have had to experience that horrific event at eye-witness level...I particularly worry about Eric experiencing PTSD." My other quilt feeling was not rushing over to help the injured (I'm a nurse afterall), not able to run Salt Lake Marathon in their honor. I feel guilty for having the "without closure feeling". The nightmares are not as frequent now that I don't have time to listen/watch the news. I know it's a matter of time when I will have other more pressing things to take over my mind/heart/soul. I do look forward to serving in Australia. :)

Cath's husband is a PA and she has many of the same thoughts about helping. Putting her family in danger, and trying to get away instead of turning back to help. It did help her to talk with someone. I wish we could have a jog at the JRP so you guys can get together for some road therapy. Certainly hope we can pull at least one last Sat. Goodbye run together.
