Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Very very very windy run with Karen (Sky), Carolyn and Wendy to Mtn. Ridge JH via SR92 and back via 1200E.  The in-your-face wind made breathing difficult.  Had to walk up the 12th E hill as I had neither lungs nor legs power!  Was fun catching up with everyone's happenings.  :)

nice run, smooth. i know how strong the wind can blow in that neck of the woods! i'm glad you didn't blow away. :)

oh man! how crazy. I guess I should be glad I got up early, because there was little/no wind when I ran. I hate the wind and I feel like it never stops out here. Wind is my worst enemy...I can see how it could suck the wind out of you!

Congrats on beating down the wind and getting to enjoy a fun run with friends! They make it all worth it.

Great run Smooth! It's always nice to run with friends in the wind. :) At least you had someone to complain about the winds to.

Read your blog and you like the Kinvara 2s? I love mine. I will be on my 3rd pair here next week. I have been able to find some really good deals on them online because they are coming out with the Kinvara 3s.

Smooth, all that wind will toughen you up... even more. That's a lot of toughness.

What a fun group to be with this morning! The wind has been crazy lately...go away!

HI!!! :) :) :)

Just caught up on your past 7 days or so. Looks like you have had your ups and your downs. Very fun that you were able catch up with your girls. :) :) :)

So, the wind: stupid stupid stupid wind. Don't worry about having to walk the hill. You had a great workout yesterday! Plus, with you asthma the wind can really take a lot out of you.

Most importantly, you are AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!! When are we all getting together?? :) (I have been like a bear hibernating the last couple of days. I didn't get up until 9:30 this morning!!! It felt AWESOME!)

Lotsa lotsa love and everything good!! :)

Btw, I bought some lucky bamboo for my room today. It made me think of you! (Doesn't lucky bamboo stem from Asia?)

From Smooth on Thu, May 03, 2012 at 21:41:51 from 174.27.212.157

SSF ~ Hi there! SO HAPPY you are enjoying your break and get to sleep in! How fun to have lucky bamboo in your room. Where'd you buy them at? I have to tell you a story about bamboo sometime! :)

Bec ~ Good to know you like your Kinvara2. Have you run long distance in yours? I was wondering how they'd hold up for marathons.

Amy ~ You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Tony ~ I'm so lucky to have Karen, Wendy and Carolyn live so close. They are awesome friends! :)

Rhett ~ when it comes to battle with the wind...I always loose! :) I guess what doesn't kill me makes me stronger huh! :)

RAD ~ The wind actually woke me up at 3am howling! We were hoping that it would die down by the time we ran...oh well.

allie ~ yep, this neck of the wood was your stomping ground in your high school days, huh! :)

Smooth,

That's all I wear for races now. (Kinvara2) It takes about a month or so to get used to them. Make sure you are running on the mid-foot and not the heel. They might give you some tight calves at first. I sure love mine. Curious to know what the 3s will fee like.
