Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Speedwork today:  5 x 1000m @ 4:40 (400m RI).  Was cold driving to the HS track.  This time I parked at the church.  In the middle of my third interval, a class (PE?) came jogging on the track.  The teacher had to yell at the kids to get out of the way.  Then I had to yell "on your left! passing on your left!" to another group at the other end.  Hope I didn't startle them too much.

Warm up 2 miles @ 8:54, 8:19

1K @ 4:35  RI @ 2:36

2K @ 4:35  RI @ 3:00

3K @ 4:39  RI @ 3:10

4K @ 4:39  RI @ 3:03

5K @ 4:40  RI @ 3:06

Cool down 2 mile @ 9:00, 9:12

Sure was a beautiful day, blue sky, cool temp.  Left glute and ITB have been bugging since Sat. , not too bad, hopefully some tapering will calm everything down.  11 days!!!

From allie on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 15:25:46 from 129.123.254.110

great work smooth. 11 days to your 3:55!

From Cal on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 16:01:26 from 66.133.117.3

Those sound like some good goals Smooth. But just don't be afraid to let it all out on race day, ok? I think your training indicates that your potential is much faster than your ecstatic goal... so if you're feeling good and you look down and you're way ahead of pace, just go with it!

From RAD on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 16:01:27 from 76.27.12.70

Nice work Smoothie! GREAT times, you were hitting faster than pace. I'm predicting a sub 3:55 for you - your speed has been there lately, and we all know you have the endurance and determination to get there! Rest, hydrate, rest and hydrate some more - can't wait for SGM!

From Nancy on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 17:09:45 from 76.27.11.127

You are really dedicated to do track work by yourself. You are getting so fast that before you know it you'll want to qualify for the Olympics.

From leslie peterson on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 17:49:13 from 76.23.61.78

Great work out, I need to get out and run, I have been so lazy! Yikes! 11 days!

Looks like you hit your splits pretty well. Very nice.

From Kelli on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 18:34:21 from 71.219.96.151

From RivertonPaul on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 18:35:20 from 67.42.27.114

Such dedication. Most excellent.

From Bec on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 19:43:38 from 67.177.35.60

I love that you were out there with a PE class. I am sure the students were thinking, "This lady is choosing to run? She must be a little coo-coo." At least that is what I would have thought as a high school student. Great workout and some nice speed! SGM here you come. No taking it easy on this race Smooth, even if you want to!! You have to show your AD who is boss!

From Kathie on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 19:58:27 from 63.248.105.188

Wow smooth great run I am with the rest of the gang...I think you should shoot for 3:50 with Kimmy and I.

From Teena on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 20:09:04 from 67.177.20.13

On the bright side ... I can't wait to spend some time with you!!! Any chance Larry wants to go golfing with Ry?

LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

And I must agree ... you should run with Kathie and Kimmy!!! Just think about how fun that would be!!! Seriously Smooth ... just do it!!! :)

From AmberG on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 22:12:51 from 64.255.88.235

Smooth,

Can I just say "ditto" to Cal and RAD? I think you are going to hit a PR for sure this SG, , , you're track and tempo runs have been awesome, and you've trained so well and consistently. I'm praying for a tail-wind for us all, (I know I'll need it for sure, I'll take any miracle) , , so we should all PR and then eat pink sugar cookies! YEah! Only 11 days to EAT WHATEVER I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

From timp on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 22:21:25 from 136.182.2.26

great job hitting your paces ! I agree with Cal, I'm thinking you can get that 3:55 or faster

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 22:44:57 from 97.117.81.161

Thanks everyone for your vote of confidence. I'll give it my best shot.

Bec ~ That's exactly what my mother-in-law says about me: QWAZY!!! More than a little coo-coo! :)

Kathie ~ I'd love to run with you and Kimmy. Don't know if I have it in me to do 3:50 though. It'll be so fun to run with you for at least a few miles 'till you dust me!

Teena ~ Larry would LOVE to golf with Ry. Can't wait to see you in 10.5 days.

Amber ~ Yeah, praying for tailwind and a miracle (at least for me). Can't wait to see you run OTQ time at SG. Pink sugar cookies! MMMMmmmmmm.

Timp & Cal ~ Thanks! You really think so? OK, I'll remember that, don't be chicken...just go for it!

So awesome smooth!! I was supposed to do this workout today but I just feel gross!! Glad you go to do it and I could read about it!! Feeling bummed that I just don't have it in me today. No worries I am on the mend in a few days.
