Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Five years ago almost to the date, my husband was called and sustained to be the Stake President of the Lehi Utah North Stake which has since grown to encompass 14 wards and one branch.  Today our Stake was divided and a new Stake, the Lehi Utah Cedar Hollow Stake, was organized.  It was a joyous, bittersweet and historical occasion.   What a privilege and pleasure it is to witness the work of the Lord moving forward through His faithful and diligent servants.  The Spirit was abundant, tears of joy and gratitude flowed freely.  Indeed we are no more strangers but are fellow saints.   What a blessing it is to live among such choice people, to serve with such kind and loving brothers and sisters.

I am grateful for the knowledge and testimony that I have of a living Father in Heaven who loves us and knows us by names.  Indeed, the first word uttered by God, the Father, in this dispensation was:  "Joseph!"  For He knows Joseph and called him by name as He introduced His Son, "this is my Beloved Son, hear him."  I bear witness that He lives and knows us individually.  He loves us.  He hears and answers our prayers.  I testify that His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior and Redeemer.

Through the power of the Holy Ghost, I come to know for myself that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared before Joseph Smith.  I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.  Through him, the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the holy priesthood along with all the saving ordinances were restored.  I am grateful for the knowledge and testimony that I have of the Plan of Salvation.  I know that family can be forever.  Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be made whole.  Because of His triumphant over death, we can attain immortality and eternal life.

I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God.  It is another testament of Jesus Christ.  I know we have living prophets here on earth today to guide and lead us.  I know President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God.  With every fiber of my being, I bear witness that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Savior of all mankind.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His kingdom on earth and this is His work.  What a glorious privilege it is to be counted as one of His disciples and to enjoy the blessings of the Gospel.  I share my testimony (which is dear and precious to me) with you and whoever read this,  I do so with much love and gratitude, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Thank-you for bearing such a sweet testimony. I'm sure your husband did a great job as Stake President and your support really helped him. I'm so grateful that I belong to his only true church and that Heavenly Father guides and blesses me every day. Thank-you for being such a great example.

Hey Smooth, looks like you've got Ogden coming up in a big hurry, like less than 2 weeks.....lets not be doing anything, like rookie mistakes, that will mess up all your hard work/training getting there.

Just a quick love and miss you! Studying right now. Blah! :(

You and Prez are both so incredibly incredible!!! :)

(With Prez having less branches/wards to preside over think of all the time you two will have to flirt with each other!)

Nancy ~ Thank you so much for your kindest words. We are so very blessed indeed!

Slick ~ Too late for the warning. I did make a rookie mistake running up and down the 1,080 concrete steps in jeans, sweater, no warming up or cooling down and then sat for hours. I am paying for it now. Dumb dumb dumb me!

SSF ~ Keep studying. It will be over in a few days! LOVE YOU and MISS YOU too!

Prez. spent the rest of Sunday calling all the bishops, High Counselors and Auxillary leaders who are now in the new stake to express his love and appreciation to them. Then he spent the rest of the evening preparing for his first presidency meeting this coming Tue. Tonight we're going to attend Steven's HS musical performance with his mother and David. Busy, busy, busy,,,no time to flirt! :)

Thanks Smooth for that sweet testimony! You are so strong, and you emulate your love for the gospel in everything you do and say! I feel so BLESSED and lucky to know you through this blog and through the running community! So your hubby didn't get released yet I take it? Just re-arranged in callings? Or is he released? Either way, I know you've been a wonderful support to him! Thanks again!

From Smooth on Mon, May 03, 2010 at 12:38:40 from 174.23.172.155

Amber ~ THANK YOU for your sweet kind words.

He didn't get released. He is still the Stake Pres. for our stake with only 7 wards instead. However our stake boundary has a lot of potential for growth still.

Anyhow, we had to fill out a form (personal profile stat sheet) for the church and states the callings he's had. We then realized in the 32 years of our marriage, there were only 3 years where he could sit with his family, 1 year as Elder's Quorum Pres and 2 years as Stake Young Men Pres. It's no wonder I'm used to sharing him! :) It's a good thing I have a testimony of the Church huh! We have been greatly blessed b/c of his serving the Lord, so I'm not complaining!
