Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

6 am run with Karen and Leslie.  Only had 4 hours sleep.  Nice cool morning.  Ran to 800 E MCT access to SR92 trail to Highland trails then turned south to Mt. Ridge Jr High and east to Mitch Hollow Park and MCT to Karen's neighborhood.  Only stopped once at the Park to refill our water bottles.  My stomach started to growl when we ran by Kneaders with its delicious smell infitrating my lungs! :)

Attended Uncle Tats' funeral at the Japanese Buddhist Temple in SLC; very nice service!

56 days & 13 hours till SGM, are you ready?

From Smooth on Fri, Aug 08, 2014 at 17:06:05 from 65.130.110.24

Slick ~ Not ready yet! Still have lotsa work cut out for me. I have no lofty goal for SGM other than finish upright! :) :) :)

Looks like you are getting ready well for SGM Smooth with a 10 miler and the last 4 at mp. Great run.

Smooth - I agree with Rhett, looks like your well on your way to being ready...Just pay attention to your schedule and the "6 P's" and life will be good on the other side of the finish line!

Go for a BQ so we can run Boston together in the near future!!!!!

From Nancy on Sat, Aug 09, 2014 at 07:06:56 from 24.10.168.18

Nice run. I am sure you will be ready for SGM.

From Smooth on Sat, Aug 09, 2014 at 08:23:56 from 65.130.110.24

Slick ~ Registration for Boston 2015 begins on Sept 8 and may fill up by the time SGM rolls around. I don't think I have a BQ in me this year. I'm aiming for Boston 2016 at which time I'll be in the 60-64 division giving me another 15 min. so it's doable. Boston 2016 will be on April 18 which is the birthday of my granddaughter and her mother...more the reason to celebrate! So what say ye that we run Boston 2016 together?!!! :) :) :)

From Rhett on Sat, Aug 09, 2014 at 09:03:09 from 199.117.154.54

I want in on the Boston 2016 party. I'm qualified for 2015 but don't think I'm going to do it.
