Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I ate 4/5 of the triple deck white and dark chocolate moouse and 3 spoons of the three different flavors sorbet. The presentation of the three course dinner at the Metropolitan was fabulous, colorful artsy sauces. First course was a creamy celery bisque (soup). Main course was grilled salmon with yummy side dishes. Oh, the dinner rolls, they keep bringing us 6 different kinds of specialty rolls. I would have been satisfied with just the rolls. Tonight is the 2nd of 4 dinner parties we get to attend. It's a good thing my scale is currently not working. I don't want to know the truth.

When you said 1/2 of the dessert, I was wondering if you ment 1/2 of all the desserts. Once I start, I usually eat to my hearts content. As long as I don't start, I can be very disciplined though. Have fun with all you cool parties. Just reading that dinner description made my mouth water.

SuperWoman,

You amaze me. However, often times at holiday parties I start with dessert!! Then, if I have room left over I will eat the main dishes. Why not? Isn't the purpose of holidays to suspend ordinary business and celebrate??? Oh Smooth ... please tell me you ate more than just 1/2 of a dessert!!

Rhett --

That was the problem. When they place before me this beautiful exquisite plate of dessert. Unless I make a quick exit which would be rude to the hosts, I CANNOT resist tasting it. Once I take one bite, I'm a gonner. Sometimes I could get my hubby to eat some of mine. But the problem is when they offer two different kinds of desserts, then my husband and I just HAVE to tast each other's desserts. It IS so GOOD but so BAD.

Yah, runners have this "finisher" mentality. Once we START something, we have to FINISH it. Yes, my hubby and I FINISHED each other's desserts. It was absolutely deliciously yummy.
