Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran/walked with hubby, Wendy and Karen.  ITB tugged a little after 3 miles and running on a slight decline.  I thought with no running for the last 5 days that it is good to go...nope!!!  Sigh!!!  :(

We then went to the pool while they did lap freestyle, I practiced TI skill 1, 2 and 3.

Now my ITB is giving me fits especially after sitting.  STINK!!! :(

Foam roll! Maybe you area already doing this, but if not give it a whirl. Hope you get back to 100% soon.

From Smooth on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 at 14:02:07 from 67.2.119.62

Thanks Scott! You are right on!!! That is exactly what I need to do! Thanks for the reminder! :)

From RAD on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 at 14:05:20 from 67.171.119.50

do ice massage, foam roll and stretch, stretch stretch. I hate ITBs...seriously!

From Ken Bess on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 at 14:13:44 from 174.52.148.34

That's too bad =( I've never had ITB issues but I think every runner has some weak area that they are constantly battling. Hopefully yours gets feeling better quickly.

Sounds to be that it is time to get those skies waxed up (grab a stick of Juicy Fruit....remember that commercial??!!). I saw this morning on the news that the resorts will be opening soon! Yahooooo!!! We got punch cards to Brighton and got the kids measured for skies at the rental place. We are ready to go! We just need a few more storms. Where do you guys like to go?

I hope your ITB starts to behave! Your foam roller must be getting a good workout :)

Do ice massage, foam roll and stretch, stretch stretch, heat pad, ice bath, ring around the rosies, one more foam roll, ibuprofen, raise your arms to the sky and say, "Hey!" Just kidding, but I do hope you get that all worked out.

From Nancy on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 at 20:41:11 from 76.23.21.118

I'm sorry about the ITB trouble. Maybe you need a rest.

From Teena Marie on Tue, Nov 13, 2012 at 12:33:33 from 155.100.166.113

And you are sure it is your ITB, right?

What can I do?

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Nov 13, 2012 at 17:52:21 from 71.49.55.78

ITB really stands for "It's Terribly Bothersome!"

I like the foam roller- I think I prefer ice cream to ice baths though.

Hope you're out enjoying running with friends again soon.

Toby ~ your comments put a smile on my face! :) Yep, Brighton opened today. The other resorts open on Sat. Hubby bought passes before Halloween. We like Solitude. Our all time favorite is Deer Valley but it is very pricey. We've only gone there a few times when Larry's friends gave him free passes.

Maynard ~ you are so stinkin' cute! Funny you should say "raise your arms to the sky" cause that's exactly what I did in the "Proud Warrior 1" yoga pose tonight...ah feels so good. How's your rotator cuff feeling?

Nancy ~ That is exactly what my friends said: "Rest!" But I get cranky if I don't run! Very pathetic! :)

SSF ~ It's either ITBS or some soft tissues injury. The pain is in the outside (lateral) of the knee. Hurts when bending (flexing).

Can't wait for you to work on me tomorrow! THANK YOU!!! I'm the luckiest girl! Love you!

QP ~ You are SO FUNNY!!! Yes, ITB is definitely terribly bothersome! :)

Not a friend of ice bath myself especially in the winter. I've only done one ice bath this year and that was after the Park City Marathon.

I really really really hope I can run this Sat.,,,but realistically it probably won't happen. :(
