Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

First run by myself since SGM.  Bad news!  Everything was fine until mile 5 when I felt a sharp pain in the pelvic area.  Then the hip flexors started to tighten up.  The pain eased up when I picked up the pace but I was too tired to keep the pace.  Walked the last 0.5 mile home.   How am I going to run the Hoover Dam Marathon in 8 days???!!!

7 miles in 1:08:10.  Splits: 10:05, 9:12, 9:00, 9:19, 9:49, 10:12, 10:29

I'm going to do some yoga and stretch.  I haven't been keeping up with the core either.  How do I find time for all that?  Sigh!!!

STINKY STINKYNESS! I'm sorry that you got all that bad news today. You know you have the aerobic capacity and endurance to do the marathon. My suggestion would be to take it easy and yoga, roll, yoga and roll some more until the race.

That is my vote too! You don't need to run, you will be better off if you take the next 8 days off.

Sister Lew, I will try to send good vibes your way. You deserve them as much as anyone I can think of.

Hey Smooth...happy thoughts headed your way! Hoover Dam Marathon! If I remember correctly, there's some serious hills around that darned dam! :) Get well soon..like, real soon.

Hey SSF.

Here is my vote: Skip the running, come to my house and do some elliptical instead. You can even come when I am at school and have the house to yourself (well, you would have to share with Miss Sugar, of course). Then when I get home we can do some yoga and then have protein shakes! :)

You will find a way to pull it off. You always do!!! :) But seriously, come use my elliptical.

Love you!!!

Oh, I hope that pain goes away with the stretching and yoga. You are such a pro at these type of problems right before a marathon and always seem to come out with a great marathon in the end. I'm sure it will be the same this time around. I hope the weather stays the same next Sat. as this Sat. out here and you will have a wonder day for running.

From Smooth on Sun, Oct 25, 2009 at 00:41:42 from 174.23.240.142

Thanks Rhett ~ I hope the weather stays good next Sat. too. Hope it isn't going to be windy. I really have no clue what I'm doing.
