Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I'm sure it is for the better that you did a short run today since you are running 31 miles in 2 days.

I have been laughing about "what's with all these people running marathons? don't they know it wrecks their knees?" I read an article yesteday that cooralated the popularity of marathon running to the economy...Every time in the past 40 years there has been a recession, running has gained in popularity! So the economy is to blame! Anway, thanks for all the info yesterday. I'm signed up for the National Marathon in DC, March 26th. I hope I won't miss the deadline for Utah Valley Marathon! I've got to try and requalify for Boston (and then sign up on time!). Have a great Goblin Valley 50K!!

Hey Smooth, I am excited to read your report...

I hear you were awesome!

From leslie peterson on Mon, Oct 25, 2010 at 05:04:31 from 174.52.158.81

Smooth, just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed our weekend with you and Larry and Kelli and Scott and the kids. I have been worried about your ride home, JD said he was in a terrible storm, I assume you got home okay. You did awesome, I am anxious to hear your thoughts on ultras and trails verses your road running.

You are amazing, but you totally don't let me get away with my standard remark of "I do okay for being old", you put me to shame and I love it, I have something to strive for!! Thanks for such a fun weekend, you and Larry are a class act! See you soon, I hope!
