Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Nice running weather, cool & cloudy.   Feet always hurt bad the first mile in cold temp, darn arthritis!  Note to self, do dynamic flexibility exercises pre-run to warm up.

Ran EZ w/ Karen, Wendy & Carolyn.  After dropping off K and W; Carolyn and I did some hill work and strides.

It has been GREAt running weather when the sun comes up. Glad you are out enjoying it!

Hey, are you dropping anything ahead of time at the aide stations for next weekend?

From Smooth on Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 12:31:34 from 67.41.235.104

Leslie ~ I called Runner's Corner and they have 2 trail shoes in my size Casadia and Raptor both around $100. I searched on-line and found some Mizuno Ascend 5 around $90. So I ordered a pair from Runningwarehouse.com for $85 w/ free 2 days shipping. I feel better about the Mizuno Ascend since I wear Mizuno Inspire for road running. I will have a pair in my drop bag along w/ extra socks.

Rachel ~ I feel that my legs are recovered; but there's no speed in them so just throw in some strides to wake them up a tiny bit. I will be running hills both in GV and VOF so I need to keep running hills.

SSF ~ Can't wait to turn 55...I'm ALIVE!!! :) Can't wait to see you! :)

allie ~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you too! yep, October babies ROCK!!!

Nancy ~ So far my arthritis only affect my small joints (hands, wrists, feet, right ankle, right shoulder) in cold weather. I get used to it by Feb.!

Toby ~ THANKS! You are doing so good w/ your return to running. Hope we can get together for a run sometime.

Kelli ~ I'm glad I can run after the sun comes up. I like to sleep in.

Yes, I am planning on putting extra socks, shoes, electrolyte caps, bandaids, body glide, sunscreen, for the drop bags. There are 5 locations and total of 7 aid stations, 2 of which are on the return. They are about 5-6 miles apart. It is mandatory to carry a bottle. I bought a hand-held by camelbak. It is an insulated bottle. I will fill it with gatorade, then refill w/ water and electrolyte tablets. I am getting excited!
