Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

AM/PM Yoga

Stopped at Fillmore Subway for lunch where we saw Walter & Misty Brown, Staci and her family.  Staci let us borrowed one of her cameras as we forgot ours.

Got to Expo at 3:00ish.  Saw Leslie, RunningUtes, Staci, Melanie...

Went to 4pm Ed Eyestone's lecture.  Very entertaining.  Sat by Teena, RivertonPaul and Matt.  Kelli & Scott, Julie were behind us.  For Q&A I had Teena asked Ed if it was true that he has his runners take mustard for cramps.  Did we feel foolish for asking!  So Lowell was full of it!  :)

Got to Scott and Judy's house before 6.  This year she has a house full of guests.  Her aunt, Ramona, cousin Carolyn whose husband Paul Losee has the same birthday as mine turning 62 running his second SG.  He is running the Pony Express 100 on his birthday.  Carolyn's daughter Katherine whose husband Charles is running his very first SG.

While the men watched the BYU vs USU football I got my race gear ready and went to bed.  Could not fall asleep.  Took an AdvilPM at 9pm and was still awake at 12:34am

*******

Race morning:

Woke up at 3:30.  Hubby took Paul and I to the bus.  Left the house at 4:10 and got there at 4:27 and was met by Maynard and his brother Russ.  We walked south one block on 400E to the tennis court where the Forumites congregated.  Called Teena to make sure she was coming.  Took group picture, at least 25 of us, got on the bus.  It was so fun to sit w/ so many friends.  Ate the one yogurt I brought, no banana and forgot to eat the Clif bar.

Wow. That was a big group on the bus. Congratulations on the AG win in the Slam. Did you get a prize for that?

Maurine ~ No prize, just a plague. Thank you! I missed seeing you at SG...bummer!

Luzy ~ Thanks! I think I ran a smart race considering the heat. I was happy with my performance. Still extremely fearful of charlie horse. I have missed you! When are you going to run with me?!
