Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran early with Karen and Wendy.  Hubby did 1st mile with us.  We took it nice and easy as my legs are still a bit sore.  On the uphill, my heart started to act up; so I held my breath and walked until the palpitation stopped.  Was able to resume running the remainder 2 miles home without any more tachycardia.

Took Jen to her doc. who prescribed a compound antibiotic/steroid topical cream and extended the Dicloxicill for another week.  Baby Skylar slept thru the whole morning.  Jen starting to feel better by the time I left them.  Hopefully she'll continue to improve! :)

Hey there, Sistah! :)

Just curious, why did you hold your breath?

Love you!!!

(You have had a very stressful week. Any chance your tachycardia episodes correlate with very stressful weeks?)

See you tomorrow! :) :) :)

Glad you got your running legs back! Hope Jen's meds get working for her right away. Nice you got more time with your little Skylar though.

Dale ~ legs are not completely recovered yet...but life goes on! :)

Teena ~ I was performing the Valsalva maneuver, not actually holding my breath, but forcefully attempt exhaling through closed mouth and pinched nose like blowing a pressed balloon. The Valsalva maneuver sometimes work to arrest SVT (supraventricular tachycardia).

I have no doubt that my tachycardia episodes do correlate with stress. I noticed the first two episodes happened in March (last year during mileage build up just before Boston, and this year was about a month after my first sf). The most recent one (aside from the minor one yesterday) happened on Monday after I ran my first long run after sf, a 17 miler in conjunction with Lowell's Sogonapmit marathon. I am inclined to think that it is very likely the culprit. I just read the article/study you emailed me, very similar to what my cardiologist suggested. Thanks for sending it to me.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow. LOVE YOU! :)

QP ~ my running legs are not 100% back but it's ok. Jen is such a trooper. She is determined to keep nursing! I hope it works out for her and baby Skylar. I LOVE LOVE LOVE spending time with them. There's something soothing and relaxing about feeding and cuddling a new born (when you're not the new mother of course)! :)
