Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Slept in this morning.  Was going to run for an hour and SwTofD for an hour.  But found out I had a meeting this morning.  So only had time for a general aerobic run.

6 miles in 56:56.  Splits:  10:30, 9:45, 9:30, 8:48, 8:30.  Walked 0.2 to cool down and stretch.  AP: 9:28.

Going to the JrHigh track tonight to help the Stake YW with a trial run for the girls.  Should be fun.  Wonder how many girls would show up and are training towards the 5K we're planning in Sept.

*****************

About 40 girls came to the track at 7pm.  Warm up one lap with the girls and leaders.  Then ran 5K in 25:30.  Splits: 8:37, 8:20, 7:58, (0.1 @ 7:08)  AP: 8:16.   It was a good tempo run!!!

"SwTofD"??

I hope you had a great turnout tonight!

Marc ~ That's trying to Swim-Terrified-of-Drowning; an acronym coined by allie.:)

About 40 girls came. That's a good turnout considered it being on a school night and some of them already had an activity night on Tue.

Nice smooth starting those girls out at and early age! Did any of the girls run with you the whole way?

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 26, 2009 at 23:11:41 from 71.36.82.218

allie ~ should have SwTofD...may be tomorrow.

Kathie ~ none ran with me the whole way. I was proud of them, mostly beehives, finishing the 5K. We hope a better turn out for the race on 9/11.

Nice job, Smoothie!!! That sounds like a lot of fun. Boy, you are getting speedy!!!!

Smooth, I am so proud of you getting the girls out. I am so amazed at your turnout. I bet the girls were shocked at how fast you ran that 3 miles. I tried to get my beehives to ride bikes for 3 miles and you would have thought I had asked them for their right lung.

Wow Smooth, nice miles and holy cow on the pace of your 5K! Lovin' your speed...I can't wait to see what SGM has in store for your speedy 'butterfly' legs :)

Dale & Kimmy,

THANKS! The funny thing is I was probably the oldest and smallest girl there! :) They were very complimentary when I lapped them, such sweet girls!
