Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran an out and back down 3rd W hill to Frontage.  Turned around at Sego Lily Elementary which would be bustling with children tomorrow.  A dumb chihuahua came out of nowhere, yipping and about to nib my heel.  I turned and yelled at him.  A passing truck distracted him and he gave up chasing me.

Easy pace and effort on the hill.  Same knee/quad pain after mile 3.  AP: 9:32

Talked to my daughter yesterday.  Can't wait to see my grandchildren in Texas after Thanksgiving.   It's been over a year since I've seen them...wonder if the baby remembers me.

Nice job, as usual. Let's get that knee pain gone.

From LuzyLew on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 13:15:23 from 208.187.197.42

All babies instinctively know who Grandma is--it takes 5 mintues or less if you have not seen them in a while. Don't worry. Also, barking Chihuahuas were made for kicking. After all, the are the size of a football.

I'm with Luzy, kick the stinkin' chihuahuas!! I have 2 next to me that I'd like to kick! Nice work and glad you got to talk to your daughter - how could the baby forget such a wonderful grandma?!?

Keep the quad pain away - see you Friday!

Hey, good workout. I was just looking through the Spanish Fork Half web site and look what I came across.

Sorry about the pain. I hope you're not getting Runner's Knee. I doubt it. I'm glad you got to talk with your daughter yesterday.

From Bec on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 19:19:39 from 67.177.35.60

I can't imagine you kicking a dog, but I can imagine you yelling at one! That would be a sight. I can't believe you haven't see the grand babies for a year. I bet they miss their runnin' granny.

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 23:03:33 from 71.219.64.200

Nice work again today! It was great to see you and chat. And, remember, if your house is ever too quiet or lonely I can always send my kids over to make some noise!

I think we need to make weekly lunch appointments (and skip the darn swimming).

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 23:07:44 from 70.56.101.54

Paul,

I'm starting to believe that there's no such thing as painfree running. STINKS!

Luzy,

I hope you're right. He was two months old when they visited last year. I get to tend him and his brother and sister while their mom and dad go on an Anniversary cruise. Can't wait!

Kicking would be my second choice if the yelling didn't work. :)

Rachel,

I will PM you about Friday.

Jon,

Those are fun pics. That was Wendy's first 1/2. We had a blast running together. The guy smiling by the sidewalk was John whom you ran with at JRP last Sat.

Dale,

Thanks for your concern. It's not runner's knee. It's the same ITB related knee pain I had before Ogden. The quad muscle just north of the knee (at 4 o'clock) has been bothering me for awhile. I think it's a soft tissue injury and just never given time to heal.

Bec,

If that thing bite me, I probably would kick it. The yelling "GO HOME" loudly usually does the trick.

I miss my daughter and grandkids terribly!

Kelli,

Emma is adorable! Your boys are so cute! I would love to have them over anytime. I have one acre yard with a playground, a new deck for picnic. A TV in each room...each of your kids can have his/her own TV. It's very pathetic!

YES! We need to have weekly girls lunch!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 23:36:57 from 71.219.64.200

All of my kids must have their own rooms with absolutely no windows for them to peer out of at me. ;-)

An acre---I could just set them loose and we would never see them again and then we can hang out on the new deck!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 23:41:44 from 70.56.101.54

Oh Kelli, you made me laugh so hard!!!!

Yep, the backyard is a jungle where wild things grow and thrive!

From kellies on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 23:51:35 from 67.222.231.10

Nice work today Smooth!! You continue to amaze me and I think your grand baby will definitely remember you!! Who wouldn't remember someone as fun and great as you?? No worries!! I like what LuzyLew said, it's just instinct! I am excited for you!!! There's nothing like family!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 23:57:55 from 70.56.101.54

Kellie,

Absolutely! We can meet in Utah County for girls lunch. Tell us when and where. I think once school starts, Thu and Fri work best.

I hear ya on the family thing. It seems only yesterday when my 6 kids were all home driving me crazy and now I miss them terribly. Silly me!
