Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Went out the back door this morning and what did I see in my yard?  A 3 points buck/deer!  He turned to stare at me.  When I said good morning to him, he pranced off across my lawn to the road and into the field!  Wish I had springs in my legs like that!

I was looking for my hawks, Faith Hope and Charity, when running past the field on Bull River Rd and couldn't spot them.   On the return just as I was ready to turn down on 500 West, I heard a *queak queak*.  I looked up and saw Charity perched on a power pole in front of me.  I waved to her and she said *hello* (the same queak queak) back!  That was so cool! :)  Then 1/2 mile later running on 3200N, the south side of the field, I saw Hope perching majestically on the power pole right by the street that I was going to turn south on.  I waved to her; but she maintained her silence and just watched me run by!

Finished my run just as a flock of geese took off and flew east over the field in front of my house, the same field that the buck/deer was prancing to.

I also saw JonA running past, glistened and focused.  It sure made my day to exchange hellos with him!

Do you really know each one from another? That would be amazing. It's awesome you got to see them though. I won't open up myself to ridicule by detailing just how much I know about birds, but I do love them.

From Jason McK on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 11:36:17 from 63.255.173.99

You've seen the wildlife enough to give them names? If I am at the track, I do see a couple of people that I might be able to give names to, but anywhere else, every day is different, even if I take the same route at the same time.

From Teena Marie on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 11:42:46 from 174.52.45.85

How cool is that???

You are just like Snow White (just a little more asian'esque)!!! :) :) :)

You are going to do wonderfully this Saturday! :)

I love you. Thank you so much for being there for me all of the time. Even late in the evening when you should be sleeping! Seriously, I am so lucky. :)

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 11:49:23 from 174.23.203.161

jun ~ I don't really. But I noticed Faith and Hope were always together. Charity was a loner and a bit smaller. Next time I'm going to carry a binocular so I can watch them better. In years past, we had these black birds or even sea gulls frequenting the area. With the presence of these hawks I haven't seen the other pesty birds anymore, not even magpies. So that is GOOD! Plus the hawks eat the field mice!

Jason ~ Yep, I see them if I look for them in the same area. RivertonPaul gave me suggestion to name them. I hope they stay over the winter. With the heavy road construction of SR 92; I'm afraid I'll see less and less of the wild life. The deer always live in the creek down below from my house; but they only come up to eat my fruits.

From flatlander on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 12:11:41 from 75.247.247.243

Great blog today! Love how they have names, hawks are the best and you are right, they do a wonderful job of getting rid of some of the other riff raff. Good luck on Saturday.

From Jon A on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 12:23:59 from 67.214.249.195

Smooth, It was so good to see you! You are such an inspiration to me! I need to open my eyes and look around more when I'm running. I'm curious about the name of the deer. When you get to know him better, let us know his name. :-) I'm going to start watching for your friends Faith Hope and Charity, I'll tell them hello when I see them.

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 12:49:09 from 174.23.203.161

Jon ~ Faith Hope & Chairty live in the field that's just southwest of the gas station, northwest of Eaglecrest between Bull River, Center and 500 West.

Hmm, what should I call the deer? Any suggestion?

SSF ~ An Asian Snow White...funny! Have I ever told you that my friends (church friends in HK back when I was a teen) called me fatwhite? I told you I'm really a Chinese blonde! :) I was thinking about you the whole run and just knew that you'd be seeing improvements by the hour! LOVE YOU!

From Teena Marie on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 12:53:46 from 174.52.45.85

That makes me very upset at your friends in HK. Or does that mean something else in Chinese?

I am so grateful to have you in my life. Where I lack faith you certainly make up for it. I completely plan on you getting me into heaven!! :) :) :)

How about Beloved for the deer? i.e., *Deerly Beloved*? (Oh - this medicine is making me loopy!!!)

From Jon A on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 13:04:13 from 67.214.249.195

Good one Teena, I like Beloved. I was thinking Temperance or Patience would be good too.

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 13:05:51 from 174.23.203.161

That was the nick name Carolyn Kwok gave me. She's skinny as a stick, a very intelligent girl, sadly still not married. We went to BYU-Hawaii together. Yep, I was fat (but I think I was just shapely in a feminine way as a teen) and the HK girls were jealous! Ha! And I was white for a southern Chinese. Larry always teased me and said I wasn't really Chinese since I don't really know who/what my father was!

Beloved is cool! Yah! You're a bit loopy! :) :D ;}

You have more faith than you give yourself credit. I have yet to meet a more humble, caring and compassionate person as you! Not to mention smart and determined! K, get better fast! We have fun things ahead of us to do together. I LOVE YOU!

From allie on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 15:27:02 from 174.23.182.80

wow! a very wildlife-packed run. what a great morning.

From Nancy on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 16:20:57 from 76.27.19.206

With all the wildlife around you, you would think you lived in the forest. Great run as usual.

From AmberG on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 18:23:20 from 75.162.143.48

Smooth: Oh my husband would have loved to see that buck! He's counting down the days till hunting season opens (this saturday for him). What a great morning/wildlife run, who needs the zoo?

I've been wanting to thank you for all the info you left me for my Garmin! You are a sweetie to take the time to do that, thanks a bunch! Good luck this weekend, I can't wait to see ya!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 19:24:35 from 71.219.102.155

Check out that average pace speedy!!! You are doing so great! I think you are like Cinderella or Snow White and all of the animals just flock to you.

GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND!!! HAVE FUN!

From auntieem on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 10:15:37 from 71.197.249.174

I would name the deer venison! I love that you have hawks looking out for you when you run; that is very cool.

From Kathie on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 11:54:10 from 63.248.105.188

So fun! I love that you are that in tune to your surroundings I am sure it is because you don't run with music.

From Teena Marie on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 15:27:16 from 174.52.45.85

Hope you are having fun!!!

From Tom Slick on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 15:48:29 from 168.179.157.36

if you want them to stay through the winter you should start throwing sunflower and bird seed out each time you run past them. then they will be motivated to stick around when the snow flys......where ever the food is:

From Doone on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 16:16:41 from 74.36.34.151

I think we might need to start calling you the "animal whisperer". You obviously have a way the friendly creatures in your area. How fun and beautiful to see Heavenly Father's creations on a regular basis.

Good luck on Saturday. Have fun. Don't kill yourself and take some pickles:-)

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 19:31:38 from 174.23.203.161

Amber ~ There are families of deer living down by the creek. The owner of the house down there has a riffle and would shoot at any trespasser! Not really, he's a nice fella! I thought deer hunt doesn't start until Oct. Can't wait to see you in two days!

allie ~ At least I don't have to be *armed and dangerous* in my neck of the woods! :)

Nancy ~ My back yard used to be a forest until we paid a lumber-jack to cut down the 75 cottonwood trees. Now we just have 50 pine trees, 20 fruit trees, a few shade trees and shrubs....but the lawn is TOOOO big!

Auntie ~ Venison would be the name Amber's husband picks! :) I don't like deer meat!

Kathie ~ Yep, nature's music is the best!

SSF ~ I had a lot of fun. Was thinking about you all day though. I know you'd see improvement and just pray that you would have a nice day!

Slick ~ I would have to haul a lot of bird food to feed these hawks. Right now the field mice is perfect for them. Great idea though!

Doone ~ I'm gonna have Larry pack pickles or pickle juice for me. I won't kill myself...I've got Pocatello 2 weeks after that. Can't wait to see you and Rhett!
