Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Temp was cool, sunny, still a little hazy/dusty from yesterdays' wicked wind storm.  My Red Maple tree in the front yard was blown over, snapped off.  The wind caused an "arching" effect on the electric wire/telephone pole that caused a small fire across the street.  It was scary; but the fire was put out quickly.

Got brand new shoes on eBay for $34.  Tried them out for an easy run with Teena and Kelli after the temple on South Jordan River Parkway.  These shoes (Nexus) feel a little lighter than the Inspire.  Think they will do fine.   * Does anyone know how to "retire" the old shoes from the Shoe Manager?*

It was a nice short run, not paying attention to pace.  Have I ever mentioned I love "friendship run"?  Life is just too short/busy and time with friends are so so so precious.  I'll post the splits just for the heck of it.  TT: 49:35.  Splits: 9:38, 9:19, 9:34, 9:42, 9:33, 9:24.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!  We're running at the Lehi JRP tomorrow.  Come join us at 6am.

Sounds like a nice run. Have fun on your run tomorrow.

From Andy on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:03:25 from 199.190.170.28

Click on the "Shoe Manager" on the left. Click on the Active box to un-select the shoe the click on the Update Shoe button next to the shoe.

Great run today.

From Smooth on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:13:08 from 71.36.83.20

Andy,

I clicked a combination of those and kept getting the error message: "Cannot delete shoes with existing entries, delete those first." I don't get it.

From Andy on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:15:14 from 199.190.170.28

Don't delete the shoe. Just click on the check box next to the shoe then click on "Update Shoe". It will still be in the shoe manager but will not shoe up on your blog.

From Smooth on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:19:14 from 71.36.83.20

OK, I tried that. All the shoes had a "check" boxes next to them. So I clicked them to "uncheck" them except for the one shoes that I want off. Then I click "update shoe" for that one and it still didn't work.

From Bec on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:21:20 from 67.177.35.60

Great run Smooth. I hope you enjoy your day! New shoes are the greatest, especially when they are $35! Great find!

From RivertonPaul on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:21:39 from 67.42.27.114

Sorry to hear about the tree.

From Andy on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 14:22:36 from 199.190.170.28

The shoe that you want off should not have a check in the check box. Uncheck that shoe then hit update shoe for that shoe (with out the check in the check box).

Sounds like a great day for a run. Thanks from me too Andy, I've been wondering how to do that for a while.

From Jon A on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 16:21:23 from 67.214.249.195

Good run Smooth. I'm looking forward to the group run tomorrow. Yeah!

From leslie peterson on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 16:36:46 from 76.23.61.78

I bet that was a fun run with Kelli and Teena, you guys also enjoy your group run tomorrow. I think I will be in the mountains, if the weather cooperates.

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 16:36:54 from 71.219.94.65

We had a good time, huh??? THANKS for letting me crash the Teena and Smooth party!!!

See you bright and early in the morning! How far are you going? Just wondering if I should bring my iPod for company after you leave me!!!

From Smooth on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 16:43:30 from 71.36.83.20

Leslie,

Miss you so much. Have fun in the mountains. Is it supposed to rain? Hey, we're water-proof-dye-in-the-blue-nut'n-gonna-stop-us-crazy-runnin'-chicks, remember?

Kelli,

It's ALWAYS a good time spending with you.

THANKS for letting ME crash the Teena and Kelli party!

I'm thinking 18 max. You can bring your ipod and it doesn't bother me if you wear it while I chatter away either.

From Kathie on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 17:26:19 from 207.155.176.10

It is funny how what works for one runner doesn't work for another. I wore the Nexus last year and didn't enjoy them at all but my son loves them too. Nice job finding them for such a great deal!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 18:31:49 from 71.219.94.65

I was thinking 18 max as well, we will just see how far we get.

I only need an iPod when I am alone to try to distract me from the fact that I am running. So, if we stick together, I can leave the darn thing at home.

From crockett on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 18:49:27 from 71.36.80.111

Looks like rain tomorrow morning. Still going to do JRP? With rain I stay off the dirt, so I would be likely to run on the JRP coming up from Saratoga Springs.

From Mike Warren on Fri, Aug 07, 2009 at 19:57:00 from 208.117.124.133

Awesome run! Enjoy your weekend.

Hope your run is going well this morning. It looks nice outside right now.
