Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I decided not to run DNews on Mon. and welcomed the chance to run with RAD on the JRP this morning at 5:30.  Ran with Toby and RAD and yacked their ears off for 13.5 miles.  Forgot to drink until we got to the lake turn around at mile 7 then Gu'd at the drinking fountain at Willow Park (mile 11+).  The miles flew by (at least for me).  Hope I didn't bore my GREAT running partners to death!  :)  RAD brought these sweet juicy oranges that we devoured back at the car! THANKS!!! :)

Toby needed to leave.  My legs felt fine so I ran with RAD for 4 more to make 17.  My Garmin data was messed up since I forgot to restart.  RAD's showed that our AP was 9:20.  Super happy for that pace.

THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH Rachel and Toby for running with me and listened to my non-stop talking! :)  It would've been a slow and miserable run for me if it weren't for you girls!  :) :) :)

We ran into Chad then ScottW who finished his run while we were stretching and visiting back at the car.  I am so excited for his Wasatch100.  I seriously live vicariously thru his and Jun's adventurous mountain trail runs and ultras.

Start temp 61, finish temp 75.  Sunny!!!  Drank total 32 oz.  No net weight loss/gain!  Took ice soak while drinking a can of Slimfast.  Will stretch and foam roll diligently.  By Tue I may be able to assess any damage and decide on the crazy 26.2 next Sat.  GOOD LUCK to y'all running DNews on Mon.  I may drive up to cheer you in, will see!

The Whipple guys came yesterday to take apart my furnace/AC.  The blower and mother board were completely fried.  So we are forking out $13,600 to have a brand new furnace/AC unit put in.   They are installing it now.  Am glad hubby is home...having workmen in my house stresses me out big time!

sounds like a great run with great people! nice job this morning. i wish i could have joined in on the fun (next time, hopefully!) i am sure you made the right decision about not running des news -- your body and mind know best! is the crazy 26.2 race next saturday the sogonapmit? i am doing the half and i just read about the full last night. definitely sounds crazy!

sorry about the broken furnace/AC, but glad you are getting it fixed. AC is a really nice thing to have at this time of year.

Great run, Smooth. What's so crazy about the 26.2 next Saturday? Got some details?

New A/C...I'm sure that's in my near future, too. (I'm afraid to open the electric bill this month)

Those are serious dollars, glad you have such a great attitude about it. I would be grumpy for quite a few days over something like that. Great running today in the sun.

From RAD on Sat, Jul 23, 2011 at 22:07:41 from 76.27.16.189

13,000 dollars for a new furnace/ac!! Holy Moly, if mine ever goes out I think we may just have to deal with life :) I too am glad your hubby is home - workers are a little crazy. Not as crazy as us runners, but a little crazy :)

I SO enjoyed the run this morning! It made the miles fly by...and I'm waiting for part 2. You'd better get your stories lined up, because Park City is going to be a good long 4 hours entertaining me :) Thanks for your company and being smart and not doing Des News (okay, thanks for deciding to hang out with me today instead).

Sounds like a fantastic run!!! I wish I would have run with you guys. I was tempted to ask if I could join but I honestly did not know if my leg would cooperate.

Sorry about the HVAC. We went through that last year. Seriously ... so expensive!

Love you, SSF!!

Hope you are having a FANTASTIC weekend!!! :) :) :)

Smooth...I too am ready for part 2! We need to make it an extra long run....you are an amazing gal! Thank you for sharing today!

13, 000 - that is a lot of money. Think of all the new running gear you could buy with that much money :)

Will miss seeing you @ Des News.

From Smooth on Mon, Jul 25, 2011 at 14:15:42 from 67.2.122.145

allie ~ we missed you but I know that even in your slowest easy pace I wouldn't be able to keep up. :)

I'm excited that you're running Timp Half. Yep, I'm toying with the idea of running Sogonapmit. But the more I think about it, the more I'm chick'n out.

Marc ~ The crazy 26.2 is Sogonapmit Marathon. It is Timpanogos spelled backward because you run the Timp Half course in reverse going up from the finish to the start of the half with a 1740' elevation gain. You have 2.5 hours to get there before the Halfers start their race and then run back down trying to not let them catch you. Yes very crazy indeed!

The new AC is very expensive but claims to last for years and save on energy.

Flat ~ I wouldn't have spent that much money either! But what do you do when you had no air condition in the middle of two of the hottest days of the year and the guys had your old AC completely gutted out showing you how old and broken your old AC was and how expensive and troublesome to get it fixed....blah blah blah. Hubby was a kind man and got suckered into the sales pitch! I have to admit though that the new unit is very nice and it gave us peace of mind for at least the next 10 years. :)

RAD ~ It's always a pleasure to run with you and having Toby there was a bonus too. :)

SSF ~ I wish you would have joined us! Although I would not be able to keep up with you anyway you look at it! :) Miss you lots! :(

Toby ~ Thank you for running with me and mostly for tolerating my yacking. It was so good to see you! Did I mention that you look absolutely skinny and beautiful? Next time we need to come run your neck of the woods for some hills! When you took off that last 2 miles, you looked so strong and smooth. You are doing so great!

bye-wing ~ So sorry I missed seeing you yet again! Dang! next time! Can't wait to hear how your 10K went this morning and if your kids got to tease you or not. At any rate, I'm sure it's a fun time with RAD and all the family at DNews! :)

Fun seeing you again on Sat Smooth. Hey, I love the new profile pic :) Nice run! I wish I would have joined you guys. It would have been more fun.

From Chad on Tue, Jul 26, 2011 at 01:21:47 from 71.199.13.143

Sounds like fun. Can't wait until I can run the miles to join you guys again.
