Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!

What a FUN day made memorable running with my SSF at the Lehi HS track!  VO2max workout has always scared me.  Kept telling myself what Andy once said:  "Don't be afraid of speedwork.  It feels good to run fast and just when you get tired you get to recover."  Plus, it really helps to have my SSF's company!!! :) :) :)  We looked like twinsies (or dressed like serious track runners) w/ our white sleeveless top, black shorts and compression sleeves!  :} :) :D  One of the guys there was running in tights!  We were plenty warm...so he must be roasting!

2 warm up miles in the neighborhood by the track.  Dynamic flexibility exercises.

5x800 w/ 400 (RI):  3:49 (2:19), 3:42 (3:00),  3:42 (3:30),  3:49 (3:35), 3:47.  Jog around the track to make 6 even.  I really expected worse splits...been awhile since I ran 800s plus the left shin was hurting...so I am happy with sub 3:50s.

Then came the fun part!!!!  We ran barefooted on the Astro Turf football field in all different directions and goofy strides for 2 miles cool down.  It felt so good on the feet, toes and ankles....we LOVE it!!!!  :)

THANKS SSF!!!  We need to do this again and work up to 10 Yasso's before SGM!!!  :)

Congrats to you and Teena. Sounds like a wonderful run.

So, what kind of weather should I expect at UVM? (I'm getting used to the 70s in the morning getting up to the mid-90s with about 50% humidity. Any chance of that?)

From RAD on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 23:03:30 from 67.172.229.125

Wonderful run with amazing company! Great paces on those yasso's as well! 3:40's is an excellent pace if you ask me :)

Fantastic workout!

From Smooth on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 23:19:02 from 174.23.172.155

Marc ~ I think temp was in the high 50s this morning when we started at 7:50am. You can expect more comfortable running weather than TX. UVM starts at 5:30 am. So it will most likely be in the low 50s, and finishing temp may get to high 70s. Utah is much drier clime than TX so the heat will be more bearable.

RAD ~ I wish my splits were more consistent. I never did get in the puke zone though.

Toby ~ THANKS! How's your ankle feeling?

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 23:24:57 from 174.52.45.85

We have already made our plan, every other week, remember???? :)

You really are the best AND you rocked those 800s!!! I loved watching you pass those men!!! :)

Love you so much.

How was your day?

Sounds like an absolutely GREAT workout! You have gotten to be an even more amazing runner the last bit, something I did not think could be improved on as you were already AMAZING!!! Glad you two twinsies had a good time!

Good job, impressive times on the 800s. Don't those translate directly to marathon times when you do them like that? Looks to me you can expect a very good UVM in a few days.

nice workout smooth. sounds like you had a fun day.

Nice splits Smooth, and oh such better since you had a good time doing them!!

From Smooth on Tue, Jun 01, 2010 at 19:28:57 from 174.23.172.155

Flatlander~ The Yasso 800s theory is if you can hit TEN 800s. I have run 10 800s at target splits before, but have yet to run sub 3:50 marathon. I must be doing something wrong.

THANKS everyone! Teena made it sooo fun!

SSF ~ We visited Larry's father's grave, then had wonderful lunch at his mom's, went shopping for dresses, etc. while the kids went to the movie, ate out for dinner and movie at home. I'm enjoying having kids at home.
