Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran on JRP. Saw Jon at the parking area and again when I got back at 10 miles as he was driving off.  It was good to see him.

Temp. was 62 at the start and 72 at finish, sunny with a welcome breeze.  A few Russian Olives trees provided nice shades occasionally on the south portion.  I doused myself with water while drinking from the fountain at Willow Creek Campground mile 12 and 14.5.  Drank gatorade at mile 4, 6, 10, Gu at 8.  There were lots of runners, cyclists, walkers on the trail.

Took ice bath.  Ate peanut butter sandwitch, two boiled eggs, noodles, cherries, V8, milk, water for lunch.  Had a Ward BBQ dinner with lots of pasta salad, fruits, grilled chicken, chili.  It was a good day.

Nice run SmoothyQ!! Glad to have you back. My Ragnar team set up a run today or I would've been right on your heels at JRP!! No ITB issues? Hopefully you've gotten them out of your system :)

Way to go Smooth. That is a big day.

Rachel,

What runner are you at Ragnar? I would have slowed you down at JRP. My aches and pain don't usually show up until 36 hours later. So, crossing my fingers and toes that the ITB behaves tomorrow. Sunday is hard with a lot of sitting which seems to aggravate the ITB.

jun,

THANKS! Hubby and I went shopping for an office chair for me. It has a nice lumbar support. The best part is the seat is small enough that I could lean on the back. My feet still don't touch the floor even with the seat at the lowest. I'm a real shortie.

Good luck in church tomorrow...it may be a good thing the aches don't show up for a few days you can stretch and stretch some more and hopefully not feel it :)

Wow, Smooth, you never skip a beat. Good to see you can still put in the miles. Let's hope there's no pain in 36 hours.

You are the one that inspires me. I can't believe you ran the whole Ogden Marthon injured and still ran it faster than my fastest time. I also think it is great how much encouragement you gave to everyone.

Welcome home. No rest for the weary. You don't skip a beat. Nice workout, Smooth.

Dale,

No pain today. I'm still planning on UVM. I have to run/taper smart the next 13 days. UVM will be a training run. I want to be healthy for WBR the following week and the rest of Slam races.

Sam,

THANKS! You had an awesome long run today. GOOD LUCK with your fall marathon.

Marion,

I think you should move to Lehi, it's closer to Corinne and lots more safe trails.

Nancy,

Thanks. We have to keep each other going, don't we?

MarcE,

It feels good to be home and running again. Good luck at Steamboat this weekend.
