Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I was about to call my friend, Wendy to see if she wants to go for an easy run with me.  I had not run with her since end of Oct after SG.  Right then the door bell rang.  Guess who were standing there all sweaty and smiling, Wendy & Mary.  They came by to wish me luck for Boston and informed me that they hadn't run all Winter, subsequently are not running Ogden and now just starting to train for SGM.  How time past when you're busy.  I can't believe I've been training for 6 months.  We had some fun giggles about their winter "fat" and my humongous legs.

Ran 4 easy at average pace 10 mm.  Glad I got the key workouts done the last two days; a storm is brewing.  So much dust from the wind that I can't see the mountains.

Off to a busy day making leadership prep. and refreshments for tonight.  I'm making 100 yogurt parfeit...hope the brethreans like it; I know the sisters will.

Good job tapering, Smooth. Drop any leftovers by my place!

Men like chick food, as David calls it, they just squawk a bit sometimes. I'll be happy to stop by and finish up theirs :)

Good for you smooth, I wish people would make healthy refreshments more often. I always feel like I am rude but I am not going to eat a cookie just to be nice.

Smooth, tell Wendy hi next time you see her, I hope I can meet up with her again, I really liked her. I wish I had humongous legs rather than a gooey belly! I have run all winter but feel out of shape, I feel like I am just getting things going again, that is okay, I am ready to rock and roll now!!

Smooth - can I ask a favor? Could you please post your Boston number next to the race on your blog? That way I can easily find your number next Monday when I am pretending to work.

Thanks!

Smooth, you are doing such a great job with everything!! I'm on board with the 'bring the leftovers to me' comment - or just to the party on Sat :) I'm going for a high mileage week this week and I'm honestly a little jealous of your taper right now!! You are going to do awesome - can't wait to see you Sat!!

Maurine,

The parfait was a hit. We had 12 left overs and each member of the presidency took 3 home. Perfect.

Yes, I will put my bib# on there for the WWW to see.

Marion,

I was shocked to see the men snarfed it down and asked for one to take home to their wives.

Kathie,

The strawberries, blueberries and black berries were so beautiful in the parfait. Some commented it's too pretty to eat. We promised them chocolate the next time. Chocolate is good food, isn't it?

Leslie,

I will do. Wendy really liked you too. Ok, no gooey bellies. We will rock with our nutrition.

Rhett,

When I was running, I wanted to go faster. Then I thought what would Rhett say: "NO pushing hard on easy day."

Kelli,

I was not kidding. My friends were gawking at my elephant legs.

Marc,

I don't know if I was doing it smart. I know I would hear about it if I don't taper now.

Rachel,

THANKS! You're doing awesome building up and getting ready for Ogden. You will do FANTASTIC! See you on Sat. I heard it's gonna be a wet run.
