Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Could never sleep well when hubby's out of town.  Spent the evening foam rolling the legs...TORTURE!...but oh SO GOOD! :) Surprisingly the legs felt OK this morning.  Ran about 0.2 mile; then abruptly turned back home.  The storm was rolling in, serious dark ominous clouds and wind approaching.  Karen picked me up within 5 min and off we went to the Legacy Center.

LUCKY DAY...there were only two ellipticals open and they're next to each other!!!  Hallelujah!  We had a great workout chatting and sweating away.  Got really excited planning our 20+ miler on Sat., longest run before our marathons!  Yahoo!!! :) :) :)

Went to the temple then to Costco.  Getting ready to watch Jimmer and the Cougs make history tonight! :) :) :)

I think I will join you for your 20 miles on Saturday if that is OK. I think Kimmy wants to come to but she will only run to the temple. How far is that? Should I meet at your house at 6:30?

From Smooth on Thu, Mar 24, 2011 at 21:15:42 from 67.2.117.28

Kathie ~ YAY!!! I am so excited! The temple is about 7 miles from my house. I dubed it my SG to Veyo route, mostly downhill then hit the Temple hill at mile 7. I hope Kimmy joins us. It will be SO FUN!!!

Yes, meet at my house at 6:30. Do you still remember how to get to my house?

I am so excited!!!

Watching BYU vs Florida. Man, it's a nail biter!!!

Yes, I have Googled how to get to your house. I will be there at 6:30 either alone or with Kimmy, can't wait!

I just got foam roller today in the mail, but only know the IT band roll. How else do you use it? Any other good exercises?

From Smooth on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 00:36:59 from 67.2.117.28

Toby ~ I use them for myofacial release to work all my major leg muscles: the quads (Vastus lateralis, Rectus femoris, Vastus medialis), the calf muscles (Gastrocnemius, Soleus), the glutes, the hammies. Check this you-tube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJLxruO3su0&feature=related.

I find that while on the roller I'm getting a little workout for the core as well.

From Smooth on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 00:45:27 from 67.2.117.28

Toby ~ The video did not show any hamstring or calf myofacial release. Here's a link to an article for more foam roller uses:

Hope these help! :)

Yahoo!!!! Nice job on the elliptical!!!

Sorry about your Cougs. I know you will find this hard to believe but I was truly wanting them to win. It was an AWESOME game until OT.

Love you!

Go get some sleep!!! :)

From Smooth on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 01:30:10 from 67.2.117.28

SSF ~ Why aren't you sleeping? Long drive and long day for you, sweet sis.!

Good night! Love you too! :)

From Teena Marie on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 01:32:13 from 67.2.71.182

I feel so rested! It is crazy!!! :)

But I am going to try to go to bed soon.

I love you, too.

Sweet dreams! :)

so sad...I was risin' and shoutin' with you. Somebody forgot to give the cougs some gatorade!!! the kind Nan runs with now. Or was it powerade? Nonetheless they looked tired going into OVERtime, lacking some zing or positive thinking, I could feel the decrease in the energy. I just wish we caught that rebound and had been the ones with the 16 seconds left on the clock with some timeouts....WITH no overtime but Jimmer scoring a three pointer. But I found that basketball is all about YING and Yang. What happened last year is equally balanced out the following year, basically pay back for Florida. bummmed. totally. But my 32 miler still goes on. Sorry for rambling on Smooth. Happy Foam Rolling/running : D.

From Smooth on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 16:47:21 from 67.2.117.28

SSF ~ I am so happy you had a wonderful Spring Break with some nice runs on trails and with Ry and come back refreshed, rested and rejuvenated.

How was your long run this morning. Going over to check your blog now! LOVE YOU!

Julie ~ That's exactly what hubby and I were thinking out loud. They should have gotten that rebound. They looked anemic during OT. Florida totally beat down the Coug's defense. But I was still very proud of the way they played the second half. Yah, totally payback time for Florida!

GOOD LUCK with your 50K where the buffalo roam tomorrow. You will do awesome and have a blast doing it. You always do! Can't wait to read your report. Hope you get some rest and sleep today/tonight! :)
