Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Sounds like a fun run. Are you fully recovered from your illness? How's the knee doing?

From flatlander on Mon, Mar 21, 2011 at 20:57:29 from 198.207.244.102

Great to see you up to your normal stuff. Hope your injury is gone for good.

It sounds like you had a nice run. I bet you will do great at Boston.

You're going to look very stylish come Boston.

SSF ~ I enjoyed the chats as much as the run today! Love and miss you! Hope you're having a wonderful Spring Break!

Rachel ~ I am so not good at organizing and planning...it's stressing me out!

Rhett ~ The bronchitis is much much better, just a nagging cough! The patellar tendon is still ahcy. I can't do any deep bending. It hurts during warm up mile, after speed work or over 2 hrs of running! The lump over the tibial tuberosity is definitely getting bigger like a bone spur!

Flat ~ I wish the injury is gone for good. Unfortunately it is a chronic tendonosis. I think I need to quit running for couple of months for it to heal properly.

Nancy ~ You are so kind! My goal is to finish Boston without major damage to the knee! So it won't be anywhere near a PR. But it will be great because I am going to enjoy the festivities, good food and friends! :)

Burt ~ I was just looking at the Boston Adidas line of clothing the other day. This year's color is bright green, kinda like my new shoes! so whadaya think? I'm not sure green is my color though. :)

From Kathie on Tue, Mar 22, 2011 at 10:29:27 from 97.126.209.130

Smooth! nice run.

Where are you going to run on Saturday? I think I might join you.

From Rhett on Tue, Mar 22, 2011 at 12:55:24 from 74.36.33.52

Smooth, that doesn't sound good with your knee. Are you going to see a doctor about that?

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 22, 2011 at 14:40:33 from 67.2.105.240

Kathie ~ Karen has a soccer game at 11am. So we are going to start our run at 6:30 am from our house down to the Mt Timpanogos Temple to Cedar Hills up to Alpine and back. She is going to drive the route to measure the distance. My goal is to run the uphill miles in Alpine at about 3/4 of our long run to simulate the Newton Hills.

We'd LOVE to have you join us! We will probably run in the mid 9's. Goal is to not stop for potty or drink and try to run it in 4 hrs.

Let me know if that sounds good to you.

Rhett ~ I have thought about going to see a doctor. But then I know what they will say...no running. If it gets really bad they will give me a cortisone shot. I am just avoiding it. I'm going to get thru Boston and evaluate from there. Thanks for your concern. You are so good and patient with your knee. I am such an addict, it's pathetic! :)

Wow, I can't believe it's that close! Wish we were all coming with you! You will do amazing. You have put in the miles and the work. I'm so excited for you! :) Someday I hope to join you!
