Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

What a great day for a long run, temp in the mid 30's, sunny, NO wind...AND with WONDERFUL friends!  Maynard, Kathie, Kimmie, Cougar, McFrosty and BeMo who came from Gilbert, AZ for Spring break met at the trail head by Utah Lake at 7am.

Ran with Maynard, Kathie and Kimmie to mile 6 and turn back to the car since Kimmie only needed to run 12.  After bidding Kimmie goodbye we ran back for 7 more.  I forgot to restart my Garmin when we stopped at mile 15.5 and mindlessly started the Garmin when we "crossed the finish" so my splits and AP were off.  Kathie had our AP at 9:05.

***Felt really good about this run.  It took a few miles to warm up and definitely felt the ITB on the turn and going down tunnels.   Oh, the doughnuts Maynard gave us totally gave me turbo power.  YaHooooo!

THANKS Kathie, Maynard, Kimmie!!!!

We then went to IHOP for brunch.  It was so fun to chat, laugh with such awesome friends.  Cougar is shooting for a BQ at UVM, Maynard is running the Buffalo Run 50K next Sat.  ONE month to go for Kathie and I for Boston!  Now off to read everyone's race report!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!

From Maynard on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 17:32:00 from 71.213.25.67

So, it was the doughnut that gave you that kick there at the end, eh?

Awesome run, Smooth--you guys are going to tear it up in Boston!

From Teena Marie on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 17:39:16 from 174.52.45.85

SSF -- AWESOME run!!! That is all BQ pace for you! AND ... at the end of such a high mileage week. You are INCREDIBLE!!!

I missed you all so badly this morning. I kept thinking about all of you and what you were talking/laughing about. It made me homesick for L2L!

What are you doing tonight?

Oh yeah, about the ITB. Let's you, Kelli and me get take out somewhere then come to my house and I will work on it (and Kelli's hammies) for a bit. Although it will be very amateur it will also be very FREE!!! :)

What do you say? And don't forget my other question, what are you doing tonight?

From Kelli on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 18:05:53 from 71.219.89.82

So sad I missed the fun and doughnuts!!!! Great job, though! I ran so much with you last year and I can tell you, SMOOTH, you are getting so much faster! Look at those average paces?

From JulieC on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 19:03:58 from 70.56.109.58

....I almost could have joined you all since I am running miles at all hours. What time did you go? I just got up from another "cat nap" and feel like I could run a few miles the weather is so BEAUTIFUL!! I opened a window to take it all in, cool fresh air circulating the air, ahh!! Wow, what a great run you all had and to top it off at IHOP. I could have eaten like a pig with you too. Yummy pancakes and eggs!!

jun ~ Not as big as your run on Thur. :)

Rachel ~ You would have loved running w/ us today.

Paul ~ THANKS! I'll watch that ITB!

Maynard ~ Yep, the doughnuts did it! Are you gonna stash some in your drop bag next Sat.? Thanks for the great run and fun chat.

SSF ~ NOT ALL BQ pace! Am really happy with the pace consider how sore I was yesterday. I am sure it was the great company of Kathie, Kimmie and Maynard that did it, oh and the doughnuts gave me the kick the last 3 miles.

We missed you a ton this morning...BUT, we would have slowed you WAY down. You are TOO FAST for me and THAT is SO EXCITING!

Hope you are enjoying your evening. Let see, tonight I had pizza, salad, coconut dream pie while watching March Madness, it's currently half time, taking a break from folding laundry.

I am all for FREE anything! I am however more excited to just hang out with you. Just tell me when!

Kelli ~ BUT you would have missed out running 31 and beating Crockett! :) Thanks for saying I'm getting faster. But we did stop a few times.

You on the other hand has been a running machine, racking miles and speedier than ever!

Julie ~ I left my house at 6:30, we started our run at 7am. You totally could have joined us. However, you would be TOO SPEEDY for us. Hope you have a good shift tonight.

Amber ~ I was sending positive vibes your way for your race this morning. COOL that we were mileage buddy. I'm sure if you had time, you could easily run another 10-20 miles to be on TOP of the board! AWESOME race today and PR from last year by 2 minutes. That is HUGE! Can't wait to see how you do as the race season progresses!

From Andy on Sun, Mar 21, 2010 at 01:09:21 from 198.60.114.178

Sounds like running with friends was exactly what you needed to snap out of the funk.

From Rhett on Sun, Mar 21, 2010 at 03:39:00 from 74.32.219.227

Sounds like a fun run and an even more fun breakfast. You have to be feeling so confident with all those mp miles worked into the long run and still feeling great at the end. You are so ready for Boston!!!!!!

From MarcE on Sun, Mar 21, 2010 at 16:49:55 from 206.225.68.121

Sounds like perfect long run and breakfast with some great friends! (I'm only a teensie bit jealous :)

From Bec on Sun, Mar 21, 2010 at 17:38:44 from 76.23.55.210

Way to stay strong! I admire the fact that you take such good care of your body while you are putting loads of miles in. 4 weeks? I am totally stoked for all of the Boston goers.
