Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

7 Easy recovery.  My legs really needed that today.  Glad I suppressed the "hurry-get-it- done" disease and kept the pace in the 10's.  TT: 1:12:02  AP: 10:18.

Yoga and corework.

My hubby and son are both in the newspaper today in the "tradewinds" of the Salt Lake Tribune.  How cool is that! :)

*** No sugar challenge, checked! ***

There's a sweetheart dance in our Stake on Sat.  Hubby and I have to make an appearance (he doesn't dance).  They always have Kneaders mini pastries and chocolate fountains.  I guess I will have to have my V-Day treats earlier! :)

HI SMOOTH!!! I'll have to go and check you two famous people out! Good girl, giving your legs a day for fun :)

From RAD on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 19:49:43 from 67.172.229.125

Nice run! Glad you had a good rest day. Congrats to the famous :) You are so stinkin' strong - kneaders pastries? If you can pass those up in front of hundreds of others eating them, you can do anything!!

From Kelli on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 21:21:46 from 71.219.89.82

YES---that is the day that you should have your treats! Kneaders is so worth it. I have not been since December and I am so craving it!!!! I think I will have Ashly bring me a cookie home on Saturday!

Nice run, glad you got in good recovery. I struggle with the slower going when I am alone. I used to so love it, but now I just want to be done and in the shower.

Have a great night!!!

Why are they in the paper? I read the paper at work but don't know if I saw them. It's funny that your easy days would be my hard days. I guess that's what happens when you get old.

From MichelleL on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 22:29:31 from 207.224.206.124

Congrats on your husband's promotion! I know a big whig!

From TBarlow on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 22:33:17 from 216.194.124.36

Great article and way to stick with your sugarless diet (there's NO way I could do it!!!)

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 03:01:34 from 75.162.72.176

I agree with Nancy. Your easy days = my hard ones, and that is without the yoga and core work. :)

Nice recovery run Smooth! Wow, your husband and son are awesome! What an awesome family!

Great job Smooth. Some of the hardest runs are the easy recovery ones. And keeping them to it. Great job.

Cool about your "boys"!

From Rhett on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 12:41:33 from 74.32.219.217

Very smart run. Some days you just have to take it easy.

From Kelli on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 14:17:09 from 71.219.89.82

I went upstairs to grab my SL Tribune and then forgot to come back and say YEAH!!!!!!! I am glad your son found a job here, is he excited about it?? And congrats to LARRY!!!

From Kathie on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 16:08:47 from 63.248.105.188

So Jeff is back in Utah is he going to run more races with you then?

Congrats to them and to you on a great run!

From Smooth on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 18:09:50 from 174.23.239.148

Marion ~ Hey sweet girl! Thanks! No one famous...just some local business announcements. Your running has been going so well lately. So excited for you!

Rachel ~ Yep, Kneader's pastries are the BEST! Can't wait!

Kelli ~ I have to keep remind myself to take it easy on easy days so I can hit it hard on hard days. It was tough when running solo.

Nancy ~ You are NOT old! I admire your swimming and triathlon ability. My "boys" are in the paper for their careers advancement. Just uncanny that they appeared on the same day when both events happened a while back at different times.

Michelle ~ Thanks! I'll tell Larry that. He's NO big whig around here though. He still cleans our toilets! That's HIS job! :)

Toby ~ You can do it...it's called positive peer pressure!

Scott ~ No, your hard days would put me in the hospital! :)

vinh ~ THANKS! GOOD LUCK at Myrtle Beach on Sat. :)

Mark ~ So true. Why is that?

Paul ~ THANKS!

Rhett ~ You speak w/ wisdom and experience! I'll try to remember that!

Kelli ~ Yes, he is excited. He worked for them on contract and was hired on when the contract was up. They really liked his work and he enjoys it. He is doing alot more than when he was in Chicago.

Larry's promotion is more of a title change. He's been working in those capacities for awhile now. He's such a workaholics that I'm glad they finally recognize it.

Kathie ~ Jeff is not running much. He likes outdoorsy stuff, climbing, skiing, etc. My other son, Eric, is the runner. When Eric gets in town, I do run with him a few times.

From MichelleL on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 19:41:57 from 207.224.206.124

Smooth - I thought Larry already had that position--I told Marion that when we talked about it. Didn't I Marion?

From Smooth on Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 22:46:40 from 174.23.239.148

Michelle ~ Yes, Larry has had that position in the bank. They just now gave him the title to match his responsibilities.

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 12, 2010 at 17:17:25 from 71.219.89.82

Many of my husbands promotions have been the same----he was already doing the job so he was the best choice! Title change is good, getting credit for hard work is good!

I run too fast when I am alone as well, just get bored with myself!
