Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Nice temp, calm, cloudy sky.   We ran 1.5 mile to access the canal trail, muddy at some spots but no biggie.  Wore double socks with the Ascend solved the blister problem.  :)

Ran the entire dirt trail round trip while the gang peeled off for their desired distances.  4 with Karen (Sky), 6 with Wendy & Carolyn,  2.5 tempo by myself.

Myrtle.  3 circuits CSE.  Bicep tricep w/ resistant bands.

Need to sign up for some March races before fees go up.  :)  Pretty sure I will run Lake to Lake (for SG runner series),  Red Rock Canyon Marathon and Riverton Half.

blech, March races. I'm having a hard time thinking about racing right now. I want to get out and run and do it all, but am afraid something else is going to go horribly wrong. I think I'll be missing out on some really good ones this year due to this apprehension.

Glad you solved the blister problem and got some good miles in the mud! It will help you feel more confident at the Orphan full in a couple weeks!

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 30, 2012 at 20:47:52 from 75.162.95.99

Rachel ~ I will run them for ya! :) You are doing so well with your rehab and so so so very positive and patient! :) You will be in great shape for Ogden and some fun races this year. No worries!!! :) :) :)

Tim ~ thanks! :)

Kelli ~ Riverton Half is on my radar! Hey, are you pacing Riverton Half? Do you have to pay registration fee if you run as a pacer for Walter?

From Steam8 on Mon, Jan 30, 2012 at 20:49:49 from 166.70.55.77

Is the Riverton Half a fun race? Maybe I should sign up for that one!

I can tell that running makes you happy. Great job.

SO many running pals in one day - so lucky!!!! We are so lucky in Utah to have so many race options!

From Tom Slick on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 07:11:11 from 69.171.160.75

Well Ms. Smooth, are you going for 60 in 60 and a 12 in 12 this year? Way to kep pumping out the great training...PPPPPP!!!!!!

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 15:08:54 from 75.162.95.99

Amy ~ Riverton Half is fun. I ran it couple years ago. Course has some hills that keep you honest. Perfect tune up race for Boston. Quite a few local FRBers are going to run it. You should do it!!! :)

Nancy ~ yep, running does make me happy. Are you running Riverton Half this year? I remember it was there that I met you and Duke! :)

Toby ~ yesiree, we are lucky indeed! :)

Slickster ~ Not sure I can make the 60 by 60 goal but definitely shooting for 12 in 2012! :)

Steam8 - Riverton Half is the bomb! No, really it is a good, tough, honest course (especially if there is wind) that is done well and is only $40. Plus it is a loop - so no early bus rides.

I look forward to seeing you there Smooth.

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 15:54:47 from 75.162.95.99

Chad ~ I look forward to cheering you when you get up to the podium and claim your hardware!!! :)

From Kelli on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 17:58:16 from 71.219.85.126

NO!!! You do not have to pay for the race, you just have to wear the pacer shirt. Pacing is AWESOME!!!! I am not sure where exactly Walter is putting me as a pacer for this race, but I am pretty sure I am one of the pacers (he has not said yet!)

I think everyone should run the Riverton half. Everyone needs to experience the wind that follows you no matte which direction you are running!
