Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Marianne's parents came at 8:30ish to drive her, Emi and Devin to Oregon.  I hate goodbyes!!! :(  Missing them terribly already! :(  Am glad they get to spend some time with their other grandparents. :) :)

Went out for solo run after they left.   Ran into Wendy and Carolyn as they were finishing their run.  It's a much warmer morning than yesterday.  Knees and upper arms sore.  Picked up the pace for couple miles.  I don't think I'll be able to run 8:45 AP for 13.1 on Sat.  Stink! :)

Owies on knees still oozing... got stuck to the running tights...ouch.  Going to wear shorts today to let'em dry and scab over!  It burns bad when exposed to air/water and when bending/straightening knees.  But I'll live!!!  :)

Ohhhh....I'm so sorry about the knees! I had to go back and find out what happened! That is pretty scary...TMs can be very dangerous...I'm glad it wasn't worse. There is a little girl in my primary who came to church a few weeks ago very hurt from a TM...face, chest arms...I hope all the TM accidents are over now. Good luck with the healing! And it sounds like you are doing SG 1/2. I hope to see you there! I am helping Walter out with the pacing. I will be pacing the 2:10 crew.

Ouch that looks so painful! Hope it gets to feeling better...especially by the race on Saturday!

Yowzza, those strawberries on your knees look sooooo painful.. Take an vit E cap and spread the oil on them. It will keep them mositurized and supple. Try it!

Dang, Smoothie, that looks painful.

Amy and I were planning on coming down to St. George this weekend to spectate and cheer all of you on, but we decided we have had enough long road trips for a while, so I cancelled the reservations. We'll stay home and wait for the race reports.

OH MY GOSH!!! Those battle wounds are awful!!! Ouchie ouchie. Way to get out and run anyway. :) So sorry you have owies AND you had to say goodbye to your grandkids. :( Oh, congrats on the announcement of your upcoming grandchild!

Yikes, You didn't make it sound like the TM accident was anything big. Once again you proved that you are one tough lady.

Good luck in st. George this weekend and have a blast!

From Markir on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 at 11:33:35 from 67.186.208.113

ouch! That looks awful. I hope you heal quickly. I would be sitting in a chair crying.

Holy Moly Smooth! Those knees look painful! I can't believe you are still running on them :( how crazy. You're right that it could be worse...you could be walking the 5K with me! Not that I'm bad company :) but, that if you HAD to be walking the 5K...yeah, it could be worse. I can't wait to see you this weekend! I think the 8:45 AP is still doable...totally, you are too tough not to try! :)

Kim, you are the 2:10 pacer?!? I may have to set you up with my uncle! He is running his first half, and I think he could probably push himself closer to a 2:00, but since this is his first I was going to suggest he start with the 2:10 pacer and then push after mile 7 if he was feeling good. Nice to know that the pacer is someone I can get an IN with since I won't be able to keep track of him! :)

Kim ~ The TM accident was preventable if I wasn't so absent minded. My daughter-in-law was ellipticalling next to me while my 2 yo granddaughter was watching movie in the same room. The movie was loud, the room was dark and getting warm. I jumped off the TM to turn on the ceiling fan without stopping the TM first. After checking on the baby monitor I turned to look at my daughter-in-law with the ceiling fan right above her head and asked if it bothered her while I squeezed in between the elliptical to get on the TM without realizing it was going at 6.5mph. Next TM I get is going to be one with a sensor so it automatically stops when no one is on it.

I'm so excited you're gonna pace the 2:10. My friend, Carolyn, was going to follow the 2:15. She ran 2:07 Spanish Fork last year but hasn't run more than 11 miles since. I'm going to convince her to follow your group. I know she can do it especially with your encouragement and pacing expertise. Looking forward to seeing you. :)

Andrea ~ thanks for the well wishes. I hope the owies don't get infected.

Slick ~ thanks for the tips. I'll have to look for some Vit. E cap.

Dale ~ I'm sad you and Amy won't be going down to SG. Am HAPPY you're back in running though. Keep up the good work. :)

Brooke ~ thanks! I had to go run off the *sadness* of saying goodbye to my grandkids. I'm excited for the new little one in Aug. She/he will be the only grandbaby living in Utah. So that will be nice! :)

Rhett ~ Me TOUGH? NO!!! DUMB!! YES!

Thanks for the kind words. I'll have fun at SG no matter what! :)

Kirsten ~ I hope so too! :)

RAD ~ I kept thinking if RAD could run/walk/scoot on broken foot...I can surely run on skinned knees, right? :)

My fitness level has gone to pot lately so I'm not confident that I can run 8:45 AP. I will just enjoy the run and not worry about time. :) I seem to always come in 4th in my AG at SG Half...so this year, I'll finally break the trend and come in 5th or 6th or 7th of 10th... Hehehe! :)

Hopefully I will see Uncle and Carolyn! I'll do my best for them!
